We now have a momma kitty that found us. We saw her around for awhile. She is so tiny that i could not feed her. After 2 weeks asking around if she is any ones. no one came forward , we gave her a bath. and set her a nice room with a big box and good food.

My worry is she is so tiny, can she have theses babies. and how far is she

Sorry if i am short, just learning how to use our new tablet.

heres the info i have on momma

found outside in our woody back yard.

Been feeding her cat food and wet food. Which is eats a can a day so far.

I can feel the babies every once in awhile. But not all the time.

She is huge around and all she is doing, eatting, sleeping

She went potty once number one and a big number 2 in 10 hours i think.

She had fleas so gave her a nice bath, picked off fleas and waited till she was dry and gave her flea meds.

I have the socks with rice ready , bath towels , she has her own room and now i just wait

Please let me know any info u got that can help, all new to us

If she was outside, she almost certainly has worms. The good news is that she can be dewormed while pregnant :) All vaccines except rabies should wait until after she delivers.

Otherwise, you seem to be doing everything right. It's just a waiting game.

Here is a thread with helpful links about taking care of pregnant cats and kittens. http://www.thecatsite.com/t/74659/welcome-message-important-kitten-care-links

thank u, I am scared if something would go wrong. And i wont know what to do. She is about to pop, and her back nipples have filled with milk. She has her own room away from kids and dogs. But she keeps trying to get out.

I checked her poop for worms , and didnt see any. Flea med is on her and havent seen any more seen the bath 4 days ago.

So i gues me and ( Flo her name) are just waiting.

Aww, Flo is a cute name!! :D

Cats can still have worms and parasites even if you can't see them in their poop. I'm sure you could just ask a vet for some dewormer without an appointment. It isn't very expensive. :) But it sounds as if she's quite close to delivery, since her milk has come in, so you might want to wait on that.

As for things going wrong during the delivery, make sure you have your regular vet's phone number close at hand, and an emergency vet number for after hours incidents. If you're in doubt, just call.

She's probably just trying to get back outside to the world she knows... she'll be comfy and cozy with her kittens soon. :rub:

Many female cats are small, and yet they do manage even with big litters... Carrying, delivering and feeding till they become almost adult.

So with any luck, it should go well here too. Be prepared, of course, but dont be anxious.

What flea med did you gave her?  Not all are recommended, esp among the "over the count" which you can buy in pet shops your grocery shop.  What is done is done, but if the med was not the best, better try with another next time.

Tx a lot for helping this little sis of ours!

Good luck!

I used what our vet gave us for our old cat. Frontline i used. I hope I didnt hurt her in any way. I have a kit set up in her room. Notebook with numbers is ready. So now all she is doing is snacking, sleeping, she gets upevry 5 mins or so to find a better way to lay. Kittens u can feel a least two on each side. Kicking like crazy. She looks lower today. So I have set my bed up in the living room wich is next to were she is. I am hoping tonight is the night. 2 of my 3 kids are out of the house for a day or so. So I can give 100% of myself to her.

Lets get those babies out Flo

I am glad frontline is ok. Woke up and went to check on her still no kittens. Let her out of her room so she can walk around the house, she went right to my walk in closet . Found a dark spot and would not come out. Maybe she dosent like her room and box i have.

Yeah, since she was outside, she's probably still not totally used to being inside and is a little scared. I mean, you would be too, right? You have no idea where you are and are about to have a bunch of babies. :lol3:

She'll get used to it, though. Just make sure you give her plenty of pets when she seems comfortable with them, and she'll come around.

Looking for a place to nest is a common sign that she is getting close, especially when combined with all the other symptoms you have described. Yes, she may prefer the dark closet but that won't be good for the babies or for you. Just make her nursing box as attractive as possible. If it isn't already, maybe find some way to cover it up (even by just draping a towel over the top) to give her a little more privacy. It's normal to be nervous for your first litter. Just try to sooth her and let nature take it's course. If you have to intervene it sounds like you are prepared to do so, and in that case trust YOUR instincts. Just remember she's already better off being in your home versus having them out on the streets. Thank you for taking her in- you can do this and I promise it will be an experience you will never forget!

Keep us posted!

Over here all wormers and flea brands are over the counter, and some in the US too.

For me there would be no event, but I'm a breeder and refuse to leave my girls to go it alone, I hope you are able to be there and that all goes well.

I had the same situation.  Pregnant stray, and I know nothing about cats.  I took her to the vet and she did have worms, and fleas.  Vet gave her one deworming dose in office and flea tx, and tested her for FIV.  My very kind vet charged me 1/2 price for the test/dewormer and no charge for office visit.  Make sure you ask for a discount!

Once her milk came in, my cat delivered within 24 hours.

Our cat is also very small (6.5 llbs post-delivery) and she delivered 5 kitties with no trouble whatsoever.  We saw the contractions and the first baby was born within 15 minutes.  All others born exactly one hour apart.  I did not know to look for the placenta with each baby...the eat the placenta, so if you aren't watching you could miss it.  She did not sever the umbilical cord, so I did it with a combination of fingers, dental floss, and scissors.  Other that that no problems, and my cat has the kitten care down.

Good luck!

Also the day she gave birth she got into the nesting box we had made for the first time ever.  We kept her confined to a small room and she seemed happy there.

Just wanted to update you all. Maggie had 7 babies Sep. on the 6 at 5:06 pm. Her first baby was hard for her. And she cleaned him up right away. Her 2 baby camer 20 min after the first. Number 3 was only 10 mins after. And she would not clean this little girl up. She just sat there and would not take him out of his sack. So had my glovs on and broke open his sack and got him to cry. The other 4 she would not even take care of right away. So i had to cut there cords and wipe them off. oh and her water broke before these guys came out. So all in all it took 4 hours in all to have all 7.

Babies are good eatting away.

mama eats 3 cans of wet and always has dry and water. My ? is she has brown lookinh rings around the out side of her nipple looks like dirt form the babies form sucking. Is that ok....

I'm sure the brown marks are not a problem.

Do you have a set of digital scales?  Weighing your kittens at about the same time each day, in grams (to avoid decimal points), is the easiest way of knowing they are doing OK.  Most days they will put on 10g or more.  There might be the odd day where they don't, possibly where you hit the input/output cycle.

They will also need worming (mum can be wormed as well) and keep on top of the flea control.

Otherwise, look after mum and she will look after her babies.
