DH and I are getting ready to go to his  second cousin's wedding. I don't have a clue who he is!
Well, I met him once a few weeks ago when we went into a restaurant where he was bar tending, then got an invite from him a few days later. I usually like wedding (the warm and fuzzy feeling lol) but I would prefer to know the people that are getting married. But, apparently it one of those family obligation things. DH doesn't even know him that well but he's my MIL's sister's grandson so we're going to keep the peace I guess.

So, today's question:

Do you like weddings?

Yes, as long as I know other people there. We went to a wedding last year and didn't know a single person other than the bride and groom and it was fairly boring.

Years ago we went to my friend's wedding. She was marrying someone from out of state so we weren't surprised when we didn't see any familiar faces.   My late mom was with us also and we were sitting there having a drink, eating appetizers, and my mother looked at the napkin which said "Rebecca and David".    We were supposed to be at Arlene and Syd's wedding.   It was a big facility with several different weddings in different rooms --- obviously we were at the wrong wedding.    Nobody knew us and nobody knew the difference.  We still laugh about that day!

Not at all.  Mine was a short affair held at my house and it was mostly a dinner afterwards and they left.  My sisters was more formal but far from the normal.

They just last to long lol.

No, not really. I'm not into the wedding thing.

Less talking then, more dancing!
I don't dance

Actually I agree with the person who said that weddings are too long.  The actual ceremony part can be very nice, I like that, but don't like sitting around waiting for something to happen.  Most of the time the party afterwards is just too long and drawn out.

I love weddings!  I always look forward to going to them.  I have one in a few weeks for a friend I grew up with and I've got a sitter lined up for both kids since my parents are also invited.  I'm super super duper excited.  Getting to go child free (the reception is adult only and its an evening wedding!) is just icing on the cake.  I unfortunately have to miss another one a few weeks after that one.  I'm even excited about my cousin's sister in law getting married and we aren't invited.  LOL  (I do know her btw...just not well enough to make that list I guess...either that or we haven't gotten the invite yet; it's still a few months away.)

If I know the people, I'm fine. But if we have to go to a wedding and don't know many people, it can be boring and last way too long.

The last wedding we went to was when my nephew and niece-in-law got married. They had the ceremony and reception at a country club in Virginia and the rehearsal dinner was at a winery. It was absolutely wonderful; the rehearsal dinner, especially was fantastic. We spent the weekend in Virginia (we're from central PA) and it made a nice mini-vacation. We knew pretty much everybody there and we all had a wonderful time.

That happend at my wedding!  They had 3 receptions going on at once.  One friend was sitting down, looking around for a while before he realized he didn't know anyone.  But he SHOULD have since we had it in the town where we both still live near and grew up in togehter!
