We are preparing to welcome our little feral cat into our home. Hoping to do it by time the weather gets cold. Read in your article about using organic potting soil. Found organic potting soil but it appears all the different companies making it has fertilizer in it. This does not sound too healthy to me. Woulndn't plain dirt/ top soil be better?

Personally, I would try Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter along with soil (and definitely not a soil with fertilizer added). I took in a pregnant feral and gave her the option to choose between a litter box with dirt from her stomping grounds, and another box with the Dr. Elsey's. She opted for the Dr. Elsey's.

I also second the suggestion on Dr. Elsey' Cat Attract Litter. I use the Precious Cat from Dr. Elsey. But I would start with the Cat Attract. There is also a litter attractant made by Dr. Elsey. It is an herbal additive and works GREAT for feral cats. You can buy it at Petco or Petsmart - usually. I would also have two open litter boxes available. Good luck :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
