Hi just wondering what everyone thinks of kittens still suckling at 12 weeks? We are keeping both of our only two kittens and at 12 weeks they are still suckling to the mother cat. Is this just for comfort? (she doesn't have much milk). Should we just let them suckle until mother cat eventually stops letting them?

Any tips would be helpful....:)

suckling at 12 weeks is fine, I had a momma cat who let her single daughter suckle for over a year(only when the daughter got pregnant with her own litter did she go fully independent from her mother), they'll stop when their mother gets absolutely tired of it, if she's letting them, then she's ovbiously not uncomfortable, at this point it's unlikely that they are nursing souly for food, but if she's still got milk then they are still getting some, kittens will nurse for comfort, and to bond with their mother, they'll also nurse of their bellies are upset. so, as long as everyone is comfortable, there is no reason to force them to stop

My girls tend to let the kitten I keep nurse for 5-6 months. Completely normal. Hopefully all are neutered now?

1kg is the safe weight, but glad to hear they're all getting fixed soon.
