So this morning Pixie wasn't opening her right eye properly and when she tried her third eyelid was half way across the eye but after a bit her eye seemed back to normal so we thought nothing of it, but she has been hiding upstairs all day and hasn't eaten since breakfast yesterday. Last night she was coughing a little but she has always had coughs and she's not coughing today. I also haven't seen her use the litter tray today which worries me too. she looked up at us earlier and her right eye reflected light back but the other didn't and after looking at her again my boyfriend says her right eye looks cloudy, I haven't been able to see because she keeps running away when I get close, no matter how slow I go. I'll be phoning the vet in the morning to see what they think but until then any ideas on what it could be and how worried I should be would be greatly appreciated.

When you see a sudden change in behavior (like hiding) it is always wise to consult with the vet. When the third eyelid is visible, this is a sign of illness, as it not eating, hiding and not using the litter box.

Have you contacted the vet yet? How is Pixie now?

I'll ask what the vet thinks then, hopefully it was just a funny turn, strange how she was back to normal this morning though

Don't we all have days where we feel like crap and have no idea why?

Maybe she got poked in the eye and it was a minor abrasion that quickly healed.

Great idea to see the vet, or at least talk to him. JMO, I would be heading to the vet if it was me because eye issues can be any number of things from simple to cure, to dire needs-to-be-seen-soon illnesses. Because you mentioned the cloudiness and cough, I would have the vet check her heart and blood pressure to rule those out for sure.
