So Thunder is back to his normal purring and cuddly self (actually, is even more cuddly now) and back to eating. He's on mostly canned food (his choice not mine) but does get a few droppers of glop along with it.

Now our problem is peeing. A lot. Not a lot at once, but frequently peeing a little bit. He'll pee in his sleep and take a few breaks from exploring and playing to squat and pee a little. It's clear to light yellow nicely hydrated looking pee, but it's just the fact he does it so often and just in little amounts. He does go do some normal pees in the litter box too and when he pees, doesn't look in any distress/pain while doing so so I doubt it's a UTI.

He's active, bright, alert, and has a good appetite now that we got him eating again. He just keeps going and squeezing a little drop of pee out (sometimes more but most of the time just a little drop)

Any ideas on what's going on? It's been like this the past 2 days (including today) If it doesn't clear up or if it gets worse by tomorrow I'm going to make a vet appt but hopefully I won't have to since I don't get paid until Friday and since my brother keeps forgetting to make payments on his cat's $338 remaining bill (she had exploritory surgery/biopsy to make sure she has IBS and not cancer. Thankfully it's IBS) they want us to pay in full for our visits until the payment's done (thank you so very much brother!)

Well looks like I'm calling the vet for an appt in the morning. We just went to pee out a drop and instead of a pee drop like it has been it was a little mucus blob.

I'm just worried because my parents are on vacation and my brother will be at work and I work from 10-6 so I can't get him to the vet until 6:40-7 and they close at 7 so I'm not going to be able to take him in until Wednesday after 4 and I really don't want to wait that long and risk him getting sick/er.

I don't know what to do.

Hope he's ok, any chance of getting him in before work? Or even dropping him off there for the day, of course I've no idea on your vets hours but here they open at 8-830am

They open at 8 but usually all morning appts are taken up. Last time I called for morning appts was with the older 3 for their eye infections and I couldn't get in until 5. he's a great vet and has good prices (and gives me a discount thanks to me having shadowed and volunteered for him)

I have Thunder sleeping next to me on a blanket and towel right now. He woke up and started purring his normal super loud purr and batted at me a couple times and is back to sleep again (all the little ones have slept most of the day today. I think we're hitting another growth spurt) other than the peeing frequently and now the mucus blob, he's as happy as always and not in any distress or pain but I really want to get him in asap since kittens can go downhill so fast.

I'm even considering calling in sick tomorrow so if I have to have an afternoon appt, I can take him in instead of waiting and extra day and risking him getting much worse. I just don't want to make him start suffering and make something that could be an easy fix become an expensive hard to cure thing. And I'd go to the emergency vet clinic but they're in a horrible neighborhood and are the priciest vet clinic around here (they were going to charge me $175 to put a hamster to sleep after it got attacked by a cat! $100 of that was for an initial exam since they'd never seen him before)

He just woke up and peed on the blanket and it was quite a good amount of pee and no mucus and then he looked at me and mewed, but not in pain. His "I wanna play" mew so I picked him up and now he's purring and attacking my face as I type. I still think I'm going to be a bad employee and call off for the first time in a year of working there so I can be a good kitten mom and make sure I don't cause him to get horrible sick.

Gosh, to think he was the one i worried least about! I worried about him most day 1 since he was the hottest and most lethargic but after that day he's been fine until he got constipated a couple days ago and refused to eat (we had to force him to eat all day until I finally thought maybe try stimulating and got a 3 inch long formed poop and he's been happier ever since and now gets stimulated a couple times daily to make sure we're still getting poops out) and now this

Just weighed him and he hasn't gained any since yesterday (of course I weighed him after a feeding yesterday so he may have gained and I just don't notice) of course out of all the kittens, he's been the one who gains at a constant but slow rate. The only time he lost was when he refused to eat for most of the day and he's not too far off from his siblings (0.2oz behind Chip and the other two are only about 0.5oz ahead of them if that)

You're not being a bad employee, people here take days off when their kids are sick so why not a kitten. I've done it before.

Is that his 3rd eyelid coming across on both eyes?

Good luck at the vets, hope you get some answers.

No 3rd eyelid, that's just an odd reflection from the light since i turned off the flash because it was drowning him out. His eyes are usually a little wider than that too, but he had just sat up from a nap at that point. He was attacking me right after that and eating like the little pig he is (not as much of a pig as the two bigger girls though. They've always had bigger appetites than him or Chip)

I just hope they have a morning or early afternoon appt available. Feel bad for him, peeing every 2-4 minutes while he's awake. I had a UTI a year ago and if that's what this is he can't be having fun (well, he can't be having fun with whatever it is but you guys get my point... I hope

Took him into the vet at 9:30 (and now have the whole day off work) and we came home with Clavamox to be given twice a day for 10 days.

Not sure if a UTI or not since there was no way we were getting enough pee out of him to be able to test it but the Clavamox is used for UTIs, bladder infections, and another urinary infection I can't rmember the name of (upper something....) we should see improvement in 48 to 72 hours (or maybe less) and since it can give him diarrhea, I can call them if it gets too loose and they'll deal with that.

If this continues on when he's bigger they can run tests and figure it out better, but he thinks this should clear whatever it is up.

He got in the room and looked at thunder and was all "Now what am i supposed to do with that? He's just a little thing!" and while he was writing stuff down Thunder made sure to crawl over to him and snuggle up to his arm. Of course we went in with a full belly and a filthy face from eating canned food
he also thinks it could be the upper whatever (god why can't I remember this one?!) since he hasn't seen many kittens this age have UTIs, though he's sure it's not possible.

He only charge me for the antibiotic (though that set me back $50 since it was $41 and I paid a little extra to the bill my brother's not paying off that's his)

So hopefully all goes well and he'll be better in now time. He's sleeping off this adventure now and I feel the need to give him a special treat or something later. Until then, planty of snuggles and playtime and food for the little guy. Hope he starts getting better quickly and this is all we need.

Clav is a good all round AB, should fix him up. How nice of him to undercharge you too.

That's one of the reasons I love going there. When I got Blake fixed, they skipped out some med charges and lessened other ones for me. I never get charged for just exams anymore (just for meds and tests if they're needed) and of course they know what they're doing there! He's been a vet for 20 some years and with the older 3 he didn't put them on antibiotics because unless they showed signs of needing them he didn't want them on anything they didn't need (another reason we left fostering them for the shelter cause the mean lady gave the kittens amoxicillin right away AND put flea stuff on them and they were only 3-4 weeks old at that time. even if it was diluted with water, the vet didn't put anything on them because they were too little. Washed that off them the minute we got home)

I just can't wait for this to clear up and us be back to normal. My mom called earlier since I left her like, 3 voicemails and I told her now we HAVE to keep Thunder since I invested $50 in him already
Plus she agreed that it was a good idea that I called off to take him in. Of course my aunt after she found out said she would've taken him in for me, but I rather have been the one. I know how he's acting and everything we've been doing and had to make the payment and could easily answer questions quicker and better than her. Thought that counts though! Hopefully nothing else concerning after this too! First his not eating for most of a day, now this. I think this is payback for not having to had to worry about him as much as his sisters in the beginning. Just glad this seems to be just a minor little infection and it should clear up no problem
trying not to jinx it though. That'd be bad!

He's becoming a brat too. Mewing at me from the floor for his cuddles and playtime, mewing at me if I remove my arm from touching him if he wants his snuggles and cuddles. I love how even so young, they have such big and different personalities!

I think it's always best if you can do the vet visits yourself, lovely of your Aunt to offer but she doesn't know the kitten and may not have asked the same questions. Of course in a real pinch, any help would be fine least you know the option is there.

How sweet you'll get to keep him too.
