I have an upcoming show, so was checking medical records, to see if anybody was due for anything. I discovered one, was 2 weeks past his rabies booster, bad mommy, lol.

My vet could not get me in today, they always do, when its an urgent matter, so I called another vet, who could see me today.  Had no experience with them, but they are an AAHA member.

Wasn't too happy with them, for one, they talked down to me, like I was an average joe customer, which, is prob most of their clients, lol, which when they discovered, I knew stuff, they were less than cordial.

They also used a rabies vaccine I was not familiar with, and used a pretreater, which, is not the one I asked for, that has been used on him in the past, that worked.   But its been 2 1/2 hours and he is acting fine, so I guess, that is the object of the game, I stayed home with him today, just in case.

My vet has me use Revolution. I am very happy with it, and my cats have no fleas, they can't, they are show cats, but, its also very expensive.

This vet said I should use Advantage, which I have no experience with, and I know, some have been know, to cause a reaction. She said its a spot on, which I won't give a pill. She also said Revolution goes into the blood system, and Advantage doesn't, this I did not know.  I have a call into my vet, to let her know, what vaccine and pretreater he was given, and that he is fine, and ask her about the Advantage.

So, I was wondering, what ya all, think about Advantage, good or bad. Appreciate your help.

Advantage has always worked great for me. River had terrible fleas when we found her as a kitten and within a couple of hours you could literally SEE the dying fleas jumping off of her. I was impressed lol :)

My vet doesn't recommend Revolution for inside kitties either unless they're newly adopted and in really bad shape, etc - special circumstances. It does enter the blood stream, and that allows it to also work against ear mites, hookworm, heartworm, and roundworm. In my vet's opinion, that's "too much" drug for an inside kitty who you're just trying to protect against fleas and probably doesn't have them anyhow.

What she says makes sense to me, and also the Advantage is cheaper as you said, so I use Advantage.

Thanks RlccaDawn!
OK, so she told me 2 things I didn't know, lol, but, I like learning new things.

So, mine don't have fleas, so, do I still give it to them, and if so, how often are you supposed to give it?

Now that you mention it, I do remember her saying, the fleas die in a matter of minutes, lol, but, if they don't have any, should I still give it?

She asked me the last time, I gave Revolution, its been about a year, she looked a little upset, but if they don't have any, why give it?  Also now remember her saying, I should give a flea treatment before my next show, so they don't catch anything.   Does Advantage keep the fleas from other cats off them?

Not that the other cats would have any,  your more likely to see a sick cat, or a drugged cat, than a cat with fleas.

Been learning some cool things about flea stuff today, thanks again!
