Unfortunately I'm now back on my old account using my old name CATTYBIRD a name I deeply regret ever choosing g to use. Anthology as I said I am very glad to be back on thecatsite.
Apparently you can't have two accounts on thecatsite. And no as you said I wasn't trying to hide who I was. I think it's a crying shame we can't change our names if we want to.Why can't you keep the new account, is that a rule or something? You weren't trying to hide the fact that it was you. I'm kind of glad you are Cattybird because I recognize you with that name, sorry you don't like it though.
No, not true on here.I'm on a couple of other message boards and I think all it takes is to ask one of the admins to change the username.
I use the same username everywhere, but in cases where I've seen name changes, the user typically posts a new introduction thread. No, not true on here.
If we could change names, I would be the first in line.I wish I would have put more thought into my name when I chose it. I would prefer some form of Karen.
Anyway, any account name changes have to go through Anne, and she has changed a few before, but normally only in special cases. If a new member with only a few posts realizes that their username reveals their real identity (such as an email) or they made a typo, then it's usually not a problem. It gets to be a problem when it is a longtime member with a lot of posts. We get to know each other by usernames. Your problems, cats and their problems, etc. are all associated with that name. For continuity we can't allow changes. I can't imagine how confusing it would be if we did! We would all have to be like Prince and have a user title under our name that was "the member formally known as...".
Anne has allowed name changes before in extreme cases, related to safety and privacy.
