I moved at the beginning of February, and still am not 100% sorted out.  The hold up has been my lack of stamina and pain. I'm usually wiped out after work, so the only days I can really do anything is on the weekend, and by the time I do errands and cleaning, I have nothing left to do unpacking.  Also, since I had that bed bug thing in the other apartment, nothing is being unpacked without my steaming it with my garment steamer first! So unpacking is time consuming

I'm on vacation and planned on using this 2 weeks to allow myself to get more, if not  completely organized.

So far I've cleaned out 2 storage lockers (I paid someone to do the heavy work);

I've unpacked my last linen closet box and reorganized the closet;

I've done a load of whites and have just now put some packed clothing into the dryer to freshen them up and make sure there are not bugs;

Once that is done I'm going to do the same for my coats that are in another box.

That will leave me having to move 6 boxes or so away from the wall in the spare room, vacuum where the boxes are and steam the rug.  Then move my bookshelf into there and unpack the boxes.  Then vacuum and steam the main area of the rug.

I also want to move my bed and vacuum and steam the carpet under and around it.... just in case.

And then I'm done!!!

The last thing will be taking all of my collapsed boxes down to the storage locker and bringing up my christmas ornaments. I plan on buying a small tree this year and putting it up.

LOL that's exactly why I am doing it on my vacation. I can do a little here and there and rest between and the whole next day if need be.  Between work and cleaning on Thursday and work and shopping on Friday and the storage rooms on Saturday, I was done in for 2 days.

I'm going to vacuum and steam my rug in my bedroom today.  I'll leave the coats and the spare room for Thursday and Friday.  I won't be doing anything tomorrow. I have an eye appointment. He will be dilating my pupils and I'll be near blind for several hours until it wears off.

I hate unpacking after moving. I had a few boxes still in one closet and went to Wal Mart and bought 2 totes and put it all in them. I still have some boxes in my basement that need to be bundled up and put out with the recycle...and I moved last October. It's on my list of stuff that needs to get done before the baby is born in 3 months, which is quite a long list.

Coats are done!  All that is left by way of "heavy" things to do is to move the 6 boxes in the spare room away from the wall. Vacuum, steam the rug and move the bookcase in there and unpack the boxes.  Moving the boxes and bookcase will be the diffiult part. I have 2 dollys; one is a 4 wheel push type, the other is a 2 wheel moving one.  So one of those will help getting the bookcase moved.  I can take my office chair into the room and sit while I unpack.

Then all that is left is to take the boxes to the storage room.  And find places for odds and ends.

Next week I'll give my hardwood floors a good vacuuming, steaming and then I'll use my floor machine to paste wax them.

Yay!!! All the big stuff is done!!

I moved my bookcase into the spare room and unpacked the boxes and took all of my packing boxes down to the storage locker.

While I was unpacking books, I was looking around the spare room. I've decided that next week I'm going to go out and buy a storage shelf unit. Then I can free up the closet and the top of my sewing machine, and be able to find things easier.

I've also decided to sell my portable dishwasher. I have a built-in one now, and even if it's not as good as my portable (which has a pot scrubber setting), I really don't see me lugging the portable dishwasher across my apartment into the kitchen.  Plus if you don't use electric appliances periodically, the gaskets dry out and the motor can seize up.  And I've decided that if I do move to another building, it will be one with a built-in dishwasher again.  So the portable is just taking up space.

Not ready to take pictures yet, but soon :)
