Hi there! My name's Elsa, and belong to 19 year old Tabby and 10 year old Mitz :) Both kitties chose us as their family, wandering in on their own way back when, and deciding that they quite liked it and wanted to stay!

Tabby wandered in as a small kitten way back when I was seven years old, drawn in my the scent of Sunday breakfast cooking in the kitchen! We welcomed this cute fuzzy ball of stripey fluff into our kitchen, and after a little while (and a few tidbits!) she wandered back out again and went on her way. She kept this up for a while, coming to visit most days! We managed to locate her actual owners who lived a couple of doors down, and when Tabby decided she was staying, my mum did the right thing and took her back to her home. However she kept returning! Her other owners also had a large dog, and eventually they suggested that perhaps Tabby was better off staying with us as she obviously seemed to like it! Ever since then she's been another member of the family. I can't describe how much I love and care for her, she's a part of my life and always been there. Even when I went away to University, I'd look forward to coming back home to see her (and the rest of the family!). She's elderly now, and gradually become more dependent and affectionate as the years go on, loving cuddles and her cozy fleecy bed by the radiator with her favourite blanket!

Mitz's story is very similiar! Nine years later he wandered in also and decided to stay! He was about a year old, a confident, cheerful and cuddly little kitty who liked nothing better than fuss and cuddles. He's white with ginger patches and amber eyes. Again we tried to track down his owner, certain he had one nearby as he came along wearing a blue collar! We searched local papers for adverts of missing cats, put notices up in the local shops, but nobody ever came forward to claim him. After a while we realised Mitz had made himself well and truly at home, and he became the sixth member of our family.

Since that time the rest of the (human!) family have moved away because of work, and I'm now back at home with my lovely two kitties. I'm so grateful for them and their company, and regularly joke with friends about how I'm gradually becoming a crazy cat lady! I worry sometimes that I can't give them as much love and attention as they deserve because I work full time too, but most evenings I can be found curled up on the sofa a cat on either side!

I joined the forums because recently Tabby showed signs of being very unwell, and I'm so worried about her. I'm hoping that people here might be able to help or offer some advice about what I can do. I can tell that there's a lot of experience and knowledge here, and will look forward to getting to know some of you and your kitties better too!
