Hello everyone

I just joined here. I dont have any cats right now. I have had cats in fact many cats years ago but went about ten years without any due to life changes etc. I somehow have now developed allergies to cats along with dogs and everything else under the sun. I cant take the antihistamines ongoing as they make me feel very edgy and nervous after a while.I hope to find out more info on here about how to deal with allergies and what breeds would be hopefully less allergenic for me and my hubby who also is having allergic reactions as well. I look forward to seeing all the lovely cats on this site and meeting you guys.

Welcome to TCS!  I believe the Ragdoll or perhaps its the Snowshoe breed that is supposed to be less allergenic.  Also grooming and things like that help.  I would ask in the Breeders Corner forum (http://www.thecatsite.com/f/7/breeders-corner) for more information.  My DH is allergic to cats but he is able to take medication for it.  We also keep our kitties out of our bedroom and things like that.  Someday we hope to replace our carpet with hardwood floors; which is also supposed to help.

I hope you are able to find something that works for you!!

Thanks for your reply. I will look into the breeders corner. We have been looking at Tonkinese . They are on a list of cats for allergies. A breeder close by where we live and they are just beautiful .
