I clearly heard it last night! It sounded very close to our fence. We did build a barn owl nesting box last year, after watching the live webcam of the barn owls. We never had a taker, but screech owls will nest in simialr boxes at the same height off the ground. It sounded closer to the tree opposite, down the fence line, but sounds can be deceiving.

I'm so excited!!! I've never had a screech owl in my yard before; we've only ever had Great Horned Owls. I love owls. I miss hearing the Great Horned ones at Mom's house. Their calls would lull me to sleep on many a night.
