Hi. Just recently adopted a pregnant cat. Owners were moving and couldn't take her and was just gonna drop her off somewhere so I took her in. I've dealt with pregnant kitties before but it's been a few years. When I got her they said she was about 5 weeks but I think she may be further along. She is part Siamese and very fluffy. I've been able to feel some movement but not much. Today she has ate alot more then usual, I bet she's been to her food bowl about 7 or 8 times today. She hadn't really been looking for a nesting spot until just about an hour ago I noticed her going under my chair. She stayed under there for about an hour and then came out. So if What I'm reading is right about the nesting and stuff she should be delivering within a week? Or sooner? She has also been more affectionate today. Usually she just lays around on the kitchen chairs but today she seems more restless. Anyway any help and advice would be appreciated:)

Poor girl, lovely that you took her in.

Sounds like she's getting closer and is further along than they thought.

Welcome Kammi!  Tx a lot for helping this sis in need of help.

The exact time for delivery is not easy to know. There are signs, but there are also cases where the "signs" was ongoing both one and two weeks before the actual delivery!

So be prepared, but you can hardly know for sure...

Some say siameses tend to deliver a couple of days later then most cats, going into 70 days.

The cat on your photo is she?

The point/masque gene is "weak" (recessive), so either she IS sort of a siamese, or happened to have two parents with this gene, and happened to get one from ma and one from pa... Voilá! a masqued cat, siamese look alike...  :)    Such mixes looks often as siamese old type.   Happens now and then.

Please, read around the treads. Many contain much valuable information you do seek...

Good luck!

Yes stefanz that is her in the picture. No changes today except it looks like she may be trying to clear the hair out from around her teats and she hasnt ate no where near as much today. I have put her in a extra room with her food, litter box and her kitty bed and keep it locked so my children dont go in there to disturb her. I dont think shes that close to having them but my mother in law is staying with us at the moment and she will let her outside and I dont want her outside with it getting about time plus she still isnt use to be with us so im affraid she will run off and not come back. I work the graveyard shift and im really hoping that she will have them during the day time while im here. Im excited to see what they will look like and how many she will have (which i dont think she will have more then 3 cause she isnt that big).

Welcome to TCS!

I don't have any experience with pregnant kitties; but I want to wish you both luck!  And thank you for taking her in!

Hard to tell from the pic but she looks part Himalayan to me. Does she have white paws?

She'll have beautiful kittens, that's for sure :)

yes she has white paws like she has socks on lol. Do himalayans have the smooshed in faces? Cause ive noticed that her nose and mouth is more rounded and shorter then most cats ive seen. Also another concern ive wanted to ask about is the flicking of her tail. She is constantly flicking her tail!! Even when im loving on her and shes purring her tail is flicking. When she sleeps her tail is flicking. Never seen a cat flick it's tail as much as her. Should I be concerned? She doesn't act in pain or agitated in any way.

Himalayans are a colour of Persian so look like Persians, but AFAIK they don't have any white markings.  Birmans and several other breeds do.  Kammi's cat also has a white spot on it's nose, which neither Birmans nor Himalayans have.

the flicking of the tails you ask about dont need to mean much here. Perhaps she is a little nervous as yet, and it is her way of letting out excessive nervous energy.

So Kammi hasnt shown anymore signs of having her babies but in the last 3 or 4 days she has gotten twice as big as she was when we first got her!! Shes so fluffy it was hard to tell she was pregnant unless you knew she was pregnant. But now you can definiately tell she is pregnant!!! I also have a dog and when we first brought her home she wasnt happy with the dog but now she is very friendly with him. She even rubs up on him and sticks her hiney in his face!! She's so loveable!! Im really starting to think that the old owners were right and she was only about 5 weeks when I got her. If so then she should be 7 weeks this sunday so she still has a couple more weeks. I feel sorry for her if thats the case cause she has gotten so big the last few days, there isnt no telling how much bigger she will get in 2 WEEKS!!! Poor thing is gonna be miserable:( Ill take some pic's in the next day or 2 and post them. She's big and beautiful:)

Doesn't sound like it will be much longer, is she feeling ok? Mine don't lay around all day like that even when close to birth.

Yeah she acts fine. She kinda roamed around today sniffing around. I'm at work right now but I texted my husband and he said she was on top of my refrigerator. She got in my bathroom closet today. Earlier today when she was laying on the floor she hurried up and started licking and biting at her belly and actually growled at her belly!! She's eaten soooo much today to and when I feed her wet food she acts like she has been starving!!

Have you got a kittening box set up for her? I confine my girls to one room when they are almost due, and spend most of my time with them to ensure I don't miss the birth - not that they let me leave when they are almost there.

Yeah I've got a clothes basket set up for her but she doesn't seem interested in it. I had her confined to one room when she started looking for a nesting spot last week and kept her in there a couple days but she didn't show anymore signs so I let her out. I work from 11:00 at night till 7:00 in the morning and then sleep till untill noonish time but when I'm home and awake I'm constantly watching her and when I'm not there or asleep my hubby keeps an eye on her. She's just being so unpredictable. I'm such an impatient person and I'm just ready for this to be over with. I've called the vet as soon as it's time She's getting spayed. It's only 35 bucks!!

That's an excellent price for spaying, are you getting the litter done too? You can charge the adoption fee to the new owners

Is a clothes basket big enough? It's hard when you don't know any dates, well she can't hold them in forever

Yeah he said as soon as she has them to let him know how many and he would work with me on getting them done also. I'm afraid She's gonna have them while I'm at work cause everyone says most cats deliver at night!! I wanna be there cause I'll be heart broken if something happens to her or one of the kittens. I can't believe how much she eats now!! I keep dry food down for her at all times and then Give her a package of wet food once a day. Should I give her more wet food cause when I give her the one package she acts like she hasn't ate in days. Maybe she isn't use to getting wet food? Old owners might not of given it to her..I'm actually off work tonight so I'm gonna keep my fingers crosses that tonight's d-day:)

My girls are fed 3-4 times a day and have dry down

If you're not there your husband will be right? Things can and do go wrong so if you can prepare him with what to do that would be ideal
