I am really really wanting to get DH a kayak for his birthday or Christmas. He has been sooo helpful since the new baby came and just works so hard anyway. We bought a used canoe from our neighbor a little over a year ago; but what he really wants is a kayak. We have lots of water ways around us and it's what he does to get some me time. Actually he hasn't even had time to take the canoe out this year. We are just so busy with the kids. So it feels important to me to get him something he has been wanting for years!
I'm just lost with where to start. Or if it will be feasible price wise. DH is tall and thin; so I'm not sure if I need to look for a longer one? Also he would probably use it on mostly water ways to like coastal areas; but not straight out to the bay or ocean. We rented a double one at the state park and paddled around there (he paddled...I prayed we wouldn't fall in...lol) using the kind you sit on top of. I don't know how often he would take it to an area with more moving water (he likes to camp and backpack; another thing he hasn't had time for...) but he might use it on a mountain river at some point.
Any advice?
