Hi, just wanting some reassurance and a little advice, ive got a beautiful little baby called jynx, she is 8 weeks old and is in critical health.

When we got her she didnt seem particularly healthy but i was determined to get her healthy and happy and i have a lot of experience in raising kittens. When i woke up this morning she was in a very bad state and couldnt stand up and walk and she just kept falling over so i immediately called the vets and got an appointment for her straight away, when we picked her up to put her on a towel so she could go in her carrier she started shaking. At the vets we were told she was very cold and dehydrated and she will be very lucky to survive. The vet gave her a shot of fluid and also an antibiotic shot, he also gave us a/d critical care food and told us to keep her wrapped up and give her a hot water bottle and keep her eating and drinking. I am just so worried about the poor little girl and am so scared that i am going to have her taken away from me so soon after getting her :'(.

8 weeks old is far too young to be away from momma.  Any breeder that knows cats or even anyone that knows cats knows that babies should not leave mom or siblings until 12 weeks old, 10 weeks old at earliest.  It sounds like convulsions to me which could be a seizure disorder.  Unfortunately, there isn't a lot they can do.  She's probably always had it.  I've known kittens that had similar disorders... They didn't live very long.  They would pull through a few times if they were strong, though.  But ultimatetly, well.... Prayers and positive vibes for her and for you.  But, my best advice is to prepare yourself for the worst.  I am so, so sorry.  Poor baby!!

i know she is too young but her mother stopped letting her and her brothers feed of her at about six weeks and they were raised by hand from that age. she does seem to be perking up a little bit since we got her home but i understand that she might not make it through the rest of the day. all i can do now i suppose is keep her warm, keep her eating and drinking, and give her as much love and care as possible and hopefully she will keep fighting.

Even if the mother stops nursing them they are far better staying with her for longer.  Going to a new home is stressful, older kittens withstand the stress better, and they also benefit from the company of their litter mates.

Keep her warm, feed her, fingers crossed.

Im so sorry you baby is so sick. If she is not eating on her own or eating much the a/d is ready to syringe feed if you need to. You might want to get some pedialyte to give her to help with hydration. keep her warm, as much food as she will take and hydrated and hopefully she pulls through. :vibes::vibes::vibes: for your baby to get better

Is she voluntarily eating and drinking? If not, how often are you attempting to get food/water into her?

Have you tried KMR (kitten milk replacement) ?

Keeping her warm is very important.  You should be giving her fluids by using a syringe if she's not

voluntarily drinking. Do not force the fluid into her mouth...she could inhale it. Just little bits on the tongue

and she should swallow.

Good Luck and keep us updated.

How and when you acquired her is irrelevant now. Just get this baby better! :)

Im sorry to say our little baby passed away this morning, such a shame as she started to perk up last night and we really started to think she was going to beat it. Atleast for the short time we had her she was loved and cared for and although her life was short it was happy. She is no longer suffering and i can take peace in knowing that we did everything we could for her. Thanks for all of your support guys xxx

Poor little Angel Baby. I'm so sorry, but I am glad she was with YOU. She got so much love and care in that short time, and that is so important. I'm so sorry.

Did she come from a rescue? Be sure to let them know so they can be hyper alert over the others. :rbheart:
