Hi all    the cat I am speaking about  she is about 10 years old, outdoors all the time, my neighbors cat.. Nick is her name, she has been in the neighborhood her whole life, one couple took care of her, then they moved, and my next door neighbors took her over, elderly couple, they are gone, now there son he takes care of her.. and we do too, feed her treats and pet her, she is at our house daily.. I noticed a limp a couple weeks ago, she does get into fights now and then, because her owrner, supposedly, leaves food out for her, and he thinks its ok to feed the other strays that come around..  there maybe 4 different ones we know.. one is getting really skinny, we named hi scar.. wounds on his nose.. anyway  I taked nicks owner to get her to the vet  and he got her checked out, he did that tuesday, she got a distemper shot and her flea stuff, said the vet did not see anything in her paw, so thinks it is a sprain.. I finally seen her yesterday, such a nice cat.. he kept her in tuesday, the vet gave her a pain shot.. she walked ok slight limp.. now this morning I seen her, and she was limping bad again..

I don't know what I should do or ask him again or see what happens in a week.. somedays seams better  others days limps worse..

we always tell him to bring her in, he trys, opens the door, she don't want to.. this winter, I may have to bring her in if need be.. out all the time. she gets along with our cat fine, they sniff face to face.. she gives a little swat here and there, they don't mind each other I think.

also what determines this is his cat? no tags on her.. just everyone knows.. the guy is a nice guy.. what bothered me, when he said he inherited the cat form his parents. he would pay the vet bill with there money, his mom passed, and his dad is in a home.. so he got everything free, house, car, what ever  oh and nick... biggest thing I am worried about is her paw.. he goes to regular vet, not the cat only vet I told him to go to.. surprising he got her in a crate to take.. she is a little fusy about handleling and where to pet het.. gives me a nip now and then.. just a little teeth grab, and a paw smack.. he he.... sorry so long and so many questions.. I am at work boared..

thanks for any tips...

You can't delete the thread, but I can try to help you find an answer. :)

If Nick is an outdoor only kitty, and she really is 10 years old, it's likely she's just entering old age. (Indoor/outdoor cats and indoor only cats live much longer.) Many cats get arthritis in their old age, like people. There's a joint supplement you can buy at Petsmart and lots of other places called cosequin that may help her some.

Bringing her in this winter wouldn't be a bad idea. She'll get used to being inside after a little while; just make sure she has a window to look out.

thanks for the reply, I agree with you on this, the neighbor wan't bring him in I bet, anyway the cat scar I mentioned came over last night, his left eye was infected or something, very skinny, he is a male not neutered either, I called the vet, I got him in a carrier  by putting food on there, he did not like that, anyway sad to say I had him put to sleep cost me over 100 bucks, at least he is in a better place, that is for sure, I feel bad but it was the right thing to do. people have no responsibility anymore.   thanks again
