New kitchen cabinets! OMG, I'm so excited. I never thought I'd ever have new kitchen cabinets.

I've been working with a kitchen designer on a new design for our kitchen. We finally approved the plan and he's coming in to measure to make sure that everything is correct. Once he does that, he'll draw up the list for the cabinets and such for us. And then Rick will take the list into work to order the cabinets. (He works for a cabinet manufacturer.)

So this year yet, we will install the new, larger kitchen window, install the two sun tunnels, and the new kitchen cabinets. My sister and I are going to paint the kitchen, and the ceiling of the kitchen, living room, foyer, and hallway. Rick wants to go ahead and do the countertops this year, too, so we'll see.If we do the counterops, we also have the do the sink. We've been looking at countertops, but I haven't a clue as to what I'd like (quartz? marble? granite? or formica?).

Gimme that sledgehammer!! (I get to tear out the pantry closet!)

my neighbor had her kitchen & bathroom countertops done with Cesar Stone. it comes in a wide variety of colors and looks pretty much just like granite and is just as stain and scratch resistant as granite b ut is a bit cheaper and no special upkeep like with granite

Oh that will be fantastic! I would love to redo my kitchen, but just don't want to spend the money right now.

I have also heard that granite requires a lot of upkeep, but that quartz doesn't.I checked at the local place here for granite prices as I bought a small cabinet at a flea market and of course no top. They wanted $30 a square foot for a scrap piece !Then they'd have to cut it.So needless to say,I went to the local discount lumber  and found a nice piece of countertop for $20.We trimmed it ourselves and it looks great.I watch a lot of HGTV...love the Property Brothers. They use a lot of the quartz.I also like the look of concrete countertops. So many colors and patterns they can do these days. You have so many options...have fun shopping!

Congratulations..I'm jealous!!  lol.  I love granite but have also heard it can be "demanding", quartz sounds like a nice option.

oh Congrats on the new cabinets . We got granite counter tops last summer. We love it and it is very easy too keep up with. It was professionally sealed by the company we bought the slab from. Don't have to do anything special at all. Have fun shopping for counter tops though, and there are many more options other than granite to choose from.
