3 of our cats had kittens this year. Now before I start getting speeched about spaying cats, let me say this. I do spay and neuter cats. But only when the spay and neuters are on sale. They have a sale every fall so all these girls will be spayed soon. I just can't afford what our vet charges to spay and neuter. Anyway, one of them hid her kittens so we don't know how many she has. Little Pet, (the tabby) just had her's this morning. Lucy (her mom) had her's almost 4 weeks ago. They both had 4. Lucy has 3 boys 1 girl, and Little Pet has 2 of each. Here are the pictures.

It's far more expensive to raise a litter than desex the cats in the first place, at least keep them indoors and away from male cats to prevent pregnancies

Kittens should also be vet checked, vaccinated twice, microchipped and neutered before rehoming at 12 weeks

I can understand financial constratints, but you can look for an organization that does low-cost spays and neuters in your area. Some shelters do them for the public. Just call or email them to find someone who will do it for a lot less than your regular vet charges. If not, look for a vet who charges less. I am sure there is one if your regular vet is unaffordable. You don't have to switch vets to get your kitties spayed and neutered at a much lower cost.

Have you ever had pregnasnt queens before?

It isn't expensive for us. They are barn cats and earn their keep by eating mice. They only get fed in the winter. Yes they will be locked up when they start going into heat again.

There are 8 kittens. All the vet stuff would equal out to close to 1,200 dollars. Around here, nobody buys cats so I don't think I can do that.

The shelter does do them every fall. I'll see if I can bring them this year. Yes I've had pregnant cats before. Unfortunatly, our cats had kittens every year on the farm as I grew up.

I've been thinking about this thread, and I realized I was being very rude. I'm so sorry.

I also thought about it and yes I'll be spaying the ones we keep. We will be giving away 8 cats(they may or may not be altered-we haven't decided how many we can do) and spaying the rest so this will never happen again. I figured that we needed new kittens every year but I realized that if we need kittens, we can adopt them instead of breeding them.  Thank you for understanding. I'm starting with a clean slate.

Wonderful to hear you've changed your mind, you could always alter the kittens that are going to new homes and charge that as an adoption fee to the new owners
