I was feeding my 6 month old kitten chow along with canned cat food. She was throwing up her food after eating and I think part of the problem was the kitten chow dry food so we stopped it. However she still looks for it and I feel awful about not giving her.. Is there any good kitten dry food out there I could give her that isn't too expensive. My husband got laid off so we cat spend fortune on cat food.

I wouldn't feel bad about not giving her the dry food. The wet food is much healthier for her. It will just take her a little while to get used to not having the dry food around, but she will adjust.

She'll eat. Kittens aren't that picky usually. What kind of wet food are you feeding her? She may be lactose intolerant. Purina Kitten Chow has cows milk in it I believe. Then again, most cats are to some degree.

Those are both pretty good inexpensive foods. I don't have a problem with either of them. People on here will tell you a raw diet is best, but that can get expensive especially if you are on a budget.

Stay away from the dry totally and she should do better.

If you can afford to feed her the wet foods, I'd do that. It may help with the vomiting she's been having to not feed the dry.

Is your concern that she won't eat - or is she not eating? Very different things.

And if she acts hungry, then you may want to feed her more of the wet food. Having transitioned my cats from free feeding dry food to eating wet food, I know it can be a bit of a challenge to figure out the right amount of wet to feed. But as a growing kitten, at her age she should really eat as much as she wants to. But again, with her issues with vomiting, it's best if divided into as many small meals as possible. :hugs:

In my opinion, any canned food would be better than dry food! So you could even try foods that cats consider yummy :lol3: (like kitty junk food) like Friskies, just to persuade her to forget the dry food and enjoy her wet food. Then I would put her on something like Wellness Kitten or Blue Buffalo Basics Kitten wet foods, which are healthier and shouldn't cost too much.

If I remember correctly, the OP only has access to a Walmart and a supermarket. If ordering online, it'd be a risk if her kitty doesn't like the foods. :(

She is eating....3 meals of fancy feast and no throwing up.

We feed her 3 times a day. We have to keep her on a schedule because of work. And when my hasband goes back, I'd like to keep her on the same schedule.

I'm concerned she won't eat what I give her. SHe is eating.

Yes, we only have a wal art nd grocery market. There is a petco or pet smart over an hour away. And ordering online is not a good choice.

I'll continue without dry. And keep with the fancy feast wet. I give her kitten and adult kind. My husband was thinking the purina one wet canned fod might ave been giving her trouble. I may try her on it again later.

I'd like to give her better stuff but........

I feel bad for not doing so.

:hugs: You're doing the best you can for her, and that's what counts! :)

Since she's eating the food and keeping it down now, I'd continue with this. :D If she seems hungry, because she's growing, just feed her a little more. You can always work in another meal before bed or something.

The wet diet is a better diet for you baby.  I don't know what you were feeding her before.  There are several out there that are good ones.  If you are looking for a premium economical kibble you can check out the Nutro Max Cat line at http://www.nutro.com/natural-cat-food.aspx   it is economical and will not break the budget hopefully.  Best of luck in your quest.
