I just got my 8 month old cat spayed 5 days ago. And I just went to check on my cat & I found the most disgusting thing ever in her litter box. Its a long poop shaped reddish light brown piece of tangled hair. Its not poop mixed with hair.. JUST HAIR. She seems healthy, eating normally & playing. what is this??? I noticed that she was licking the gauze that was covering her operation.. could it be that? or do you think its serious?

I wonder if she could have thrown up a hairball in the litter box.  I've heard of cats being considerate enough to barf in the box.  And sometimes I mistake a hairball for a poop at first glance because they have a similar shape.  The color could be from food, I guess.

Yes, one of my cats, Panda, often vomits up, 10cm of hair. Is you're cat, a long hair, medium hair, or short hair?

My, domestic long hair, Panda, does vomit up her hair balls in the litter box, and very frequently, I might add
.

My cat is a medium hair.
I am going to guess, one of two outcomes. One is, she will "outgrow" it. Meaning, over time, she will vomit up the hairballs, as needed. Two is, she is a cat, that will, "always", excrete hairballs, via bowel movements. One, of my personal cats, who, is a domestic long hair, does the latter behavior. I find, giving her Laxatone, three or so, times a week helps. This, allows my cat, to either vomit the hairball or more easily excrete it, via, her next bowel movement.
