This may or may not be a problem. Few hours ago My cat shadow got sick, twice. I did clean it up, That's not that uncommon for him sometimes he eats to fast. but tonight when i went to go find him for bed time, i found him under my desk i went to pick him up, and notice that his coat and paws were little wet, I thought well maybe he got sick again. I had him to here is face was looking at me when i notice a clear like goo was on his mouth, I went to open his mouth and it was all over his teeth, I took him to the bathroom to get water. He seems fine. He is on my bed, I went to check to see if their was vomit where he was under my desk, when i found my socks cover in a clear liquid goo.  I think he is sick, his breathing is little fast and he seems mad little, his tail keeps going at a pace that i know he isnt happy.

I know this is weird, I know i need to take him to the vets but i can't afford that bill yet. can anyone help me understand what is going on with him. I know he couldn't got into any poison because we keep that lock up. we don't keep any live plants inside the home. please help, i love my little guy so much, i afraid to close him.

Your kitty really needs to see a vet.  Remember that cats always do their best to mask their pain and discomfort so they may be in much worse shape than they appear.

Try calling around to different vets.  Many of them provide different payment options for those who are tight on funds.  Best of luck!.  Please keep us posted if you can!.

It sounds like he may have ingested something (string, bug, or most anything toxic--doesn't have to be a plant), and/or may have an obstruction, so getting him to a vet as soon as possible is imperative.

Ashley, here are some organizations that can help with vet bills, just click the links and take a look at their websites to check them out further. Care Credit is one of the more popular ones, but the others may be helpful also.

American Animal Hospital Association

Angels 4 Animals

IMOM

The Pet Fund

Care Credit

Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance(FVEAP

United Animal Nations

If you are in the UK, you can check UK Assistance with Veterinary Bills.

I know how heart-wrenching not being able to afford a vet can be, so hopefully you can get help from one of these organizations. I'm sending many prayers and healing vibes for your sweetie...and you!

Thank you, for your responses. I didn't get to the vet yet, but i will soon, My little guy Shadow is doing fine i stay with him and watch over him, He is playing, and a happy cat, eating, drinking water, using the bathroom again, running around like the crazy little kitty he is. no sick, and none of that clear like goo. purring, very loving again.

I will have him check out in the next week or two. T

Thank you again.

That's great help with the payment installments and the links.

I hope I can give a gentle criticism here, and hope I don't push anyone's nose out of joint, but it's a pet peeve of mine,

having been on pet message boards for several years now, and have both sought advice when scared and overwhelmed, and given advice when I've become experienced.

When an owner comes to a board like this to ask questions, two things I think are safe to assume.

1- they are owners who are compassionate and are trying

2- they don't want to be on the defensive when they're already stressed.

So when I see poster after poster state something right off the bat along the lines of, as above:  "I know I need to take him to the vet but I can't afford that bill yet",

I don't understand why others feel compelled to emphatically respond with "You need to see a vet", having ignored the person's acknowledgment of that fact.

If you *must* reiterate the point, how about prefacing it with- "Good to hear you realize a professional for this is best, in the meantime, here's what I know/suspect... "

Something that doesn't ignore the frazzled questioner and make them feel even more lousy about short funds.

I know, since I've been there, and as I try to help more and more pets with a cozy home and a fed belly, some of the premium care isn't always possible.

I know too that everyone has the best of intentions and is giving of their time to type out their advice and experiences.

I apologize if I'm being a big wet blanket.

Sorry to hijack your thread Ashley, and maybe you weren't even bothered, but I wanted to finally bring it up when I saw it again.

I hope Shadow continues to be on the mend.  I wonder if he maybe got bit by a spider.  My cats back in the old days used to "foam" at the mouth and toss their head, getting it on their shoulders and all down their "bib", when I used flea+tick products.  It's slimy clear drool that gets frothy as they masticate (tongue goes wild and they chew on the drool).

But will you take responsibility for a cat owner who can afford vet care but decides it's not worth going to the vet because all these nice people are giving free advice anyway? And the OP got suggestions on how they can afford vet care, not just "go see the vet".

I am talking about those seeking advice, or just plain feedback, having upfront articulated that they realize veterinary consultation is ideal.

It's not necessary then, to litigate the what-if CYA scenarios since the questioner has already absolved those they're asking by submitting that fact.

Answering "you need a vet" to someone struggling already who was brave and honest enough to admit they can't make that happen at the moment -

it seems like pushing on someone's bruise.

It can feel like you're being judged when you are at a vulnerable place.

And yep - you'll notice I stated the info above does look helpful.

I had an interesting discussion along the same lines as this with someone recently.

Well said 4catsNcounting!  I agree, we should all support each other as much as we can.

Ashley. you can also ask your vet about care credit.

Once you get established & in good standing with a vet, they will usually let you make payments on your own,

if you need to in the future.  I had to do that a couple of years ago when my kitty went in to have his teeth cleaned, & ended up needing two

extractions!

Good luck, & I hope your kitty is doing better.

Keep us posted!
