The tribute to British music was good. It was getting too late here (one hour ahead of British time), so I only watched till they raised the Greek flag and missed The Who.

I loved both the opening and closing ceremonies. Thought they were interesting and really well done. The fireworks were amazing - must have been brilliant to see in person. Here, they showed a shot of Prince Harry singing along with Eric Idle - "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" - great!!

I watched some of the events, because I love the Olympics. The marathons are my favorite event. I got up early on both Sundays to watch it live. (6 AM here in NYC). I watched Andy Murray win his gold, which was very exciting, and I'm not even a tennis fan! (But I know his story, and I'm addicted to Scotland). Yesterday I watched the mountain biking which was so intense!

Pretty spectacular 2 weeks, I would say, and congrats to London for brilliant hosting!! :bigthumb:

I really enjoyed the closing ceremony!

The first part with the cars and trucks covered in news paper completely lost me, but the rest of it was really enjoyable!

Didn't watch it. Any of it. Nor do I plan to.

I think I'm the only person on the face of the earth who has absolutely no interest in any kind of sports whatsoever.
No Pam -- you're not the oly person who isn't interested in sports.  I feel the same way.  However, I do enjoy the ceremonies.  Didn't like the opening too much, but enjoyed the closing ceremonies.   I didn't get to see the whole thing as I fell asleep! -

I really enjoyed watching the closing ceremony too, it looked like everyone was having so much fun!  I watched some of the Olympics,(kind of off and on) and I think the British did an absolutely fantastic job hosting this event.

Oh was that the Pet Shop Boys singing "West End Girls"? They're known for sublime artistic expression, much of it kinda odd at times. What's sad is that I only really remember Annie Lennox and then the Spice Girls on top of the cars... Oh yes and Eric Idle too~~ Hilarious. My memory's not what it used to be=(

Why didn't they have George Michael do it? He did it at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert way back when and was really good.

Yep, but IIRC, those costumes were from another video.

Oh I agree!   There was talk for awhile about him taking over as lead singer for Queen after he sang with them during that concert.

I found both the opening and closing to be a bit boring.  I was most disappointed to miss Cliff Richard.
