Whatever happened to those old, folksy songs?  I don't think kids get exposed to them any more.

I'm 32, and when I was a kid I had a tape with all those kinds of songs that I just loved. I don't know if any of the little kids now know those songs. . .I'm going to run it by my niece and nephew :lol3:.

Agh. . .now it's stuck in my head! I'm surprised how much of the song I remember. . .90 years without slumbering, tick tock, tick tock, his life seconds numbering, tick tock, tick tock. . .

I always got music much older than that, when I was a kid. The kind they call "classical"; or German folk songs old enough to have been passed down from the Renaissance or thereabouts.

Probably not.  Most of the kids I come into contact with are only aware of/and/or concerned with the current and most popular tunes.  Also the gossip surrounding the musical artist.

Yep, remember singing it in grade school music class.

Kids today have new childhood songs...

Story and lyrics, for those who don't get it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Grandfather's_Clock
If you want to look it up on YouTube, apparently Johnny Cash did a rendition of it
Thanks for the link. Interesting lore. I looked up the song by Johnny Cash on YouTube. I didn't recognize it at all.  Growing up my Mom used to listen to Ukranian music mostly and my Dad liked Patsy Cline and music from the 1920's or so.  Both died before I was 16 years and I didn't listen to that kind of music back then. My music was Disco and 70's style.
