Well I hve a cat she is almost 3 years old about 2 months ago she got some bumps on he neck and she's had it before and I thought maybe fleas so I put medicine on her but that didn't do anything so I changed the food and that seemed to work a little bit but now the bumps go on to her back and she had a bald spot on the back of her tail she hasn't been acting any different she is very energetic and love to be pet and doesn't seem to be scratching and they don't seem painful she is an indoor cat and I don't think it has the do with bugs... any ideas other than the vet because I will be making a trip with her

It could be many things - fleas, ringworm, cysts, but only a vet visit will tell you defintely. What kind of medicine did you give her if you were not sure what the problen was? it could very dangerous to treat her with stuff you buy over the counter without proper vt advice. Even flea drops can kill a cat.

If they are scabby bumps, I'm dealing with the same thing with my Kattie. The vet and I are thinking it is an inhaled or atopic allergy. I have her on a mix of grain free dry and canned but we are slowly converting to raw. The bumps could be from a flea allergy, so it is good that you treated her, but again it could also be a food allergy or inhaled allergy. Which of the blue buffalo dry foods are you feeding? Some of them are kinda grain heavy, but they also have good grain free ones. Blue Wilderness. You might also try a limited ingredient food to see if it is food. Blue has a few limited ingredient ones I believe. Avoid fish and chicken if you can, because cats seem to have allergies to those proteins.

Also try to add some fish oil to her diet. The fish oils are ok even if she is allergic to the fish protein aka meat. I'm using a salmon oil and I think it might be starting to work. You have to give the oils a month or two to finally kick in but they are good because the omega 3 fatty acids are usually lost in the processing of dry kibble and your kitty could probably use some extra.

Another thing to try, but ask your vet first for doseage, is a half a chlorotab, or Benadryl. I have been using a half chlorotab twice a day and it does seem to stop the itching a bit. I've read that antihistamines and fish oils work synergistically and their effects can be enhanced if used together.

Last but not least, I use a good bath. I've been bathing Kattie twice a week, the last few weeks and it does soothe her skin. I use a soap less aloe and oatmeal shampoo and conditioner made for cats, and she actually enjoys her bath. Not all cats are this easy though. I do think the bath soothes the sores and helps get rid of anything topically aka pollen or dust mites that might be on the skin.

These are just a few things I'm doing but I am starting to see some improvement, which is good because steroid shots weren't helping anymore and they aren't good for her anyways.

The reason I asked, which Blue product, is because some are grain free, some are not, as Kattiekitty said.

Blue Wilderness and Freedom are grain free. Blue Spa and Longevity are not.  Blue Wilderness has a higher fat, protein and omega 3/6 than Freedom. Both have antioxidants, which is what you want, if, you have an issue. If you have an issue with skin/coat, you want to feed the higher omega 3/6.

I feed Blue Wilderness. Their fur is soft and shiney.  I read the Blue Buffalo Facebook site every day. Many pet parents, cat and dog, have said the same thing, and that it cleared up their skin issues.

If your feeding a Blue Spa or Longevity, they have grains in them. Grains cause a plethera of health issues. Tummy issues, IBD issues, urinary/crystal/bladder, and skin.  Grains are carbs, carbs are sugars, same as with people, and can/may cause diabedies.  Grains are for horses, cats eat meat.

The scabs and bumps, may be from fleas. Have you seen any flea dirt on her, it looks like pepper.

It may also be from allergies to what you are feeding, as another poster suggested, look at the ingredients on the bag.  Have seen alot lately that seem to be allergic to chicken.

Here is a good site to read.  Hope your kitty is feeling better soon.
