Hi. My name is Jo and I live in South Australia with 4 cats & 1 dog.

I recently worked out that in 30 years I've had 10 cats. In fact since I was 12 I have always lived with at least one cat.

At the moment I have Eddie, a big, laid back easy going ginger boy. He is almost 12 years old now. I got him from the RSPCA when he was only 12 weeks old. After losing my lovely little Tawde 3 years ago, I returned to the RSPCA & adopted another ginger boy.

Jack was 6 months old & had been wandering the streets. He was found with a collar but no id! A lesson in there! Two or three months later I returned as I could not stop thinking about the little 6yr old tabby girl I'd seen there. she was still listed on the website!

I had my sights on her when I first visited. Everone wants kittens & it was my aim to seek out the most ordinary full grown cat that no one else wanted. But I had been assured that older people regularly adopt older cats & Jack had stolen my heart.

When I told the staff I was back to see Gracie they could not hide their excitement! On that second visit it was clear that Gracie had been there too long & was starting to get depressed. When I learned that in over 4 months only ONE other person had shown interest in her (& she had bitten them!) I decided I HAD to give her a home.

I don't know who at the shelter gave her that name but it must've been as a joke. She is basically a temperamental, grumpy, fight first little ..... But that said, she has settled in finally & is starting to show her sweet side!

Then three months ago my best friend passed away & I have taken on her dog and cat. Ben is a black & white farm cat. I hadn't seen him since he was a kitten over 10 years ago but he is fitting into domestic life very well. He is a very friendly sooky boy.

I only stumbled upon this site last week but am looking forward to sharing stories & info.

Welcome to TCS!  Bless you for taking those furbabies in!  I think sometimes they are just meant for us!!

My Mother-in-law has a cat named Gracie too...and she can also be a bit tempermental!  I've seen her swat at MIL's 2 big dogs (one now gone) just for walking past her.  She got my husband once...but he was messing with her.  Served him right.
He just doesn't read their body language like I do.  haha

Thanks!

I am such a sucker for cats. I deliberately avoid looking at cats & kittens needing homes when I have no more room at home. If I could have one wish it would be to own a huge property with unlimited cash to fence it & adopt any & evey cat that needed me! Of course that's a pipe dream.

I adopted the farm cat at the last farm I worked at. She was 18 - 20 years old when I took her to my vet to be euthanised humanely. She had a large tumour covering the whole left side of her nose. $300+ later I owned another cat! I had her for over 4 years & had named her Puddy, but after sharing my home with her & discovering what I lovely cat she was I wished I had named her Grace. So to have Gracie who is SO VERY DIFFERENT seems ironic. :lol3:
