Kitten help? (This may sound morbid but I need help D: )

I found an orphan stray kitten meowing in the street - he was covered in leaves and bugs. I picked him up and carried him home. He had his umbilical cord, and was cleaned by his mother but when I brought him to her, she neglected him. At this point I did take it as a warning something was wrong, but brought him home anyway. I put him in a nice warm bed, and a few days later, after hours of feedings, and petting, he died in my hands while sleeping. I named him Scoot, and you can see him here:


He was very cute and had a nice personality for a newborn. I was going through a rough time this week and caring for him and lending him love and warmth was really helping me relax, and I loved it. I don't like the idea of him being cold in the ground. Anyway, I guess the point of this is that I loved him dearly, got up every two hours to feed, and tried to keep him warm constantly, so he would feel loved. He died on monday in the morning and I buried him in a thick towel. Its now Wednesday and I wonder if I can hire someone in the area (A cremation service hopefully) to dig him up and cremate him. Do they do this often?
Has anyone ever had this done?

[emoji]9829[/emoji] He was a cute baby and I really felt like a mother. I feel bad about leaving him behind as I move. His original mum left him alone already, I don't want to do that again! My sister would like to keep him and I would aswell, we live far away from each other and I am leaving the country soon. I wanted to give her some of the ashes and myself keep them so we both could keep him nearby.

What do you all think? Someone told me it was bad luck but I just cant handle the idea of leaving him behind again.

awww, thanks for helping the poor little guy and giving him love and comfort in the short time he had. Sorry, I don't know about cremating his remains.
 

 Bless your heart for taking this little one and not having him die alone. We went through something similar last fall; I found a little kitten and my sister and I were able to catch her. We named her Lily and my sister took her home. Sadly, she didn't survive either. They buried her in the yard where my sister's other Bridge cats are, so she wouldn't be lonely.

I know that you could dig up the kitten and take it to a vet. If you can't do that, is there a friend who could do it for you? The vet would cremate the kitten for you, I would think. I'm not sure about separating ashes being bad luck, so I can't answer to that. I'm sorry.

When my parents' black cocker spaniel passed away, they had her cremated and kept her ashes. My father died almost two years ago and he was cremated. When they buried his ashes, they buried Ebony's ashes with him. I don't think you're really allowed to do that, but nobody said anything and they were buried together.

Thank you for showing the little one love before he passed on.

OH hun. I am SOOO sorry about Scoot. And yes, I can see why you named him that. Honestly, you did an incredible thing by taking him in and giving him true love the last few days of his very short life. I suspect that there was something wrong as well for mom cat to abandon him. :shame: Scoot left this world with a lovely, adorable name and knew love at your hands. So sorry....

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss of this precious baby.  And I agree with the above statement.  I have had two of my cats cremated and my vet didn't do the actual cremation but took care of all the arrangements.
