Shes five months old, what should I expect after she gets spayed? Will this change her personality? She's such a love bug I don't want her to change.

No, nothing should change. Sometimes going into heat will change some things (I've noticed), but if spayed before her first heat she should stay the same. The vet should give you a sheet of post-op instructions. She might be dopey for a few hours, depending on what kind of anesthetic is used and how long the vet keeps her afterward. She may act a bit sore for a few days, but she should be totally back to normal in a week.

In my experience, cats don't know they are supposed to be lazy before their stitches are removed. Both Emily and Patricia wanted to stay active and it was hard to keep just-spayed kitties at the shelter in their cages.

She's more likely to change if you don't have her spayed and she becomes hormonal.  You are also protecting her from breast cancer and pyometra by spaying her.  Vets do lots of these operations and are very skilled at them.

In the UK the normal spay is via the flank and there are almost no stiches so recovery is very fast, gather midline is usual in the US and recovery takes a bit longer.

My kitty got spayed 2 weeks ago and was herself the next day. I tried to stay calm, not play with her, or be around......but she still jumped and played. She is still the loving mesha I fell in love with. Thank you for getting her fixed.....greatest gift you could give her.

Of course you are nervous, that is a perfectly normal way to feel. Most of us are basket cases when it is our own cats going in for some procedure, but reassuring and calming to everyone else. :lol3:

Your baby girl will be fine, and soon it will all be behind you both.

keep us posted!
