If you're visiting New York City, check for where the Purina Cat Chow "Cat Cab" is going to be via Twitter at #catcab

Supposedly all you need to do is tell them a story about your cat(s) and you get a free ride in their blue "cat cab" anywhere in the city. If you have questions, just ask the public relations people at the boarding area, or go to http://Twitter.com/CatsOutOfTheBag . The current location is Union Square North in front of Petco. Whether the boarding area moves or not, that I don't know --- It's possible they're always at Union Square North.

The blue color of the cabs, IMO, is sort of clever public relations-wise, because cabs practically color the streets here yellow, so the blue is eye-catching. I think it might be a wordplay inspired by the TV game show "Cash Cab"(?)

Here are some pics:

The last pic makes me think you end up sharing the ride with one of the Purina public relations people who listens to you chat about your kittys?

That sounds really cool! I also live in NYC and this is the first I've heard of it
. I have yet to check out the pictures, but my first thought was they should have done the cabs in a red and white checker print, or atleast a checker stripe like the old checker taxi cabs, that would have been even cooler!

I have to go check this out! I think this is so cool, and do I have stories to tell about Maia??!!

Ya know Housewives of.....................  I think I have a great spin off show...........Cat Lives of.......................
  or Catwives of.....................

Oh! That would've been a better look for more buzz. I think Sunday's the last day, so if you've got somewhere far to go, maybe use the Cat Cab before then!:lol3:

That is so cool! I would have loved to drive one of them, or at least talk to one of the drivers. When I was driving a cab in NC, some of the drivers adopted a little polydactyl tortie abandoned at WalMart, and she was so good, she would sleep in the cabs and we would sometimes forget she was there, and she would end up taking a cab ride. I eventually got her a spot in a private military family rescue, where she was adopted into a loving family.

Haha!! That's so cool! I saw them on either Wed. or Thurs. morning, as I was coming out of Central Park during my run. The location is pictured in the 3rd pic in your first post......Columbus Circle, right across from the Trump Hotel. They were just setting up. I would have gotten a ride back to my apartment, but I was all sweaty, and I needed to continue running. Cool idea!

Nanner, the cabs will be near the TKTS bleacher seats today starting at 4PM. See the Gothamist link above. So, if you need to go somewhere far today, it might be a good idea to tell a cat s tory! I'm thinking where oh where do I need to go today?

Aw, I saw that earlier, and it's near me (sorta), but I wasn't going to go anywhere. Then I decided to go up to Trader Joe's, at 72nd St., which is a mile walk (it's all right - exercise!), and I never even thought I could have walked over to the booth and told a story and gotten a ride! :D I wonder if I could have convinced them to hang out while I did my shopping. :D
