Ok..... My trips got to be too much for Kelly - of course.... she has her own pets too.... But she does petsitting on the side for other people, and this week she will not be with us.... So, I am hiring someone else.
Initially the idea would be for this person to cover Kelly when she can't come in, but it is looking to me that the best thing to do is one trip Kelly, one trip the new person..... This way the cats are familiar with her, and there is not the "newness factor" all the time, which can be quite stressful.
I am traveling about 3 weeks of the month, 4 days of those weeks. It is a lot. It is a lot for a pet-sitter too..... And a lot for my pocket.....
With that in mind:
This new person, is the owner of a professional petsitting service. They are certified by the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, certified in Pet First Aid and CPR through the American Red Cross, are fully insured and bonded through Pet Sitter Associates LLC, members of NAPPS, members of Professional United Pet Sitters, and Charter Members of the Association of Pet Sitting Excellence.
They have a very comprehensive contract, that made me quite comfortable to work with them.... along with an extensive reference list.
In addition, she personally feeds a raw diet to her own fur-babies, 2 dogs and 3 cats, which scored BIG to me. She makes her own food.
Like Kelly, she will be a live in pet sitter - she will do the morning feeding, the afternoon feeding, and she will spend the nights, so the babies have someone to cuddle and don't feel lonely - this way I also know they are safe.
She came in today.... She looks like is on her fifty's, and looked like a great lady. She works with rescue, and is not a kid who you would hesitate leaving your babies with - on the contrary... I felt comfortable, and safe....
Also because she works with rescue, she has a discount for rescued pets - since the three of mine are rescues, I will be able to save money too, when she takes care of them....
So, I don't know if this will work out.... I am VERY nervous.... This is the first time ever these babies will be with someone other that Kelly :heart3: but.... I knew that it was going to happen, and I am hoping for the best.....
This is a long trip too (6 nights)....
She has Kelly's phone # for emergencies, my landlord's, my neighbor's, and or course is authorized to take them to my vet and e-clinic (God forbid).
Anyways........ Can I have some vibes, if you have any to spare? Mainly for my sanity...... they will probably be alright :cross:
I HOPE this works out :cross:
