Now that I have your attention from that rather yucky title:

My 9 month old boy has had really runny diarrhea which I established was diet related, so I changed the food.  However, even now his stools are ok, he 'leaks' a little where he sits.  It's not a lot, just a small brown patch with maybe a tiny more solid bit.

I do have to keep a careful eye on this guy as he has a funnel chest and is not necessarily out of danger with that as he is not yet fully grown, but it is certainly looking positive.  However he was one of a litter of six, and all the others died very early.  So I'm not quite sure what issues he may have.  I don't know the full story of his littermates.. I just took him to make sure he was well looked after.

Also, when I was cleaning him up, which I'm doing regularly, a reasonable amount of greyish fluid came out... probably anal sac secretion.  Does that happen when cleaning this area of a cat?  I can't believe after all my years of cats, that I've not had it happen before.

On a lighter note, he's rather thrilled with me cleaning his bottom and has become even more affectionate!

I wish Bugsy liked when I clean his butt.... He hates it! Guess at least in that butt related issue you are lucky :flail:
Is he taking probiotics? that might solve your issue

No. Good idea.

Can I give him my own or do I need the ones specifically for felines.  If the latter, what would you recommend that is likely to be available over here in Aus?

your own is perfectly fine! If he is still a kitten, give him 5billion cfu, adult, shoot for 10 billion. Acidophilus and biffidus are a good mix..... Sorry if I spelled wrong, typing from my phone....

Thanks Carolina.  Do I need to count each one?
(it always amazes me how they know how many billions are there..).  He's a 9 month old kitten so I did somewhere inbetween.

He really likes it.  Here's hoping it does the trick.

Do count then let me know - I will be waiting patiently :flail:

That has worked a treat, Carolina.   So why would that be?  I'm afraid I don't do a raw diet (it is partially, but not fully) and I have to admit to feeding Nutro and Holistic dry food as well as lightly cooked chicken, raw red or white meat, and chicken necks.  I know he's a sensitive little guy, health-wise.

So should I keep this up now?

He actually loves it.  I carefully count out my 10 billion, mix with water, shake it up and give it to him with a dropper and he just laps it up!

I don't use a capsule, which makes it even easier, but I'd rather be sure he gets it all, especially right at the moment.

OK, so maybe I'm another one to try the raw food diet....  It seems to come with the TCS territory!

We don't have any commercial stuff here.. I'm on my own with it. There are so many threads on this topic. Would you be able to direct me to one, or just give me some idea of making up my own?
