I recently rescued an abandoned kitten from my basement, as my neighborhood is full of strays and my backdoor needs to be repaired. A momma cat left her two kitten in my basement and have abandoned them. By the time I found them, they had been in my basement for at least a day, scared, hungry, cold, and alone. I took them in and named them "Sam and Dean", after the characters of the show Supernatural, because I'm a nerd in that way.
Sadly, one of the kittens (Sam) didn't make it, though I tried hard for him to. It was heartbreaking and I cried, as he died in my hands from being too sick and too small. Dean still lives and is getting stronger every day. Though he's an overly angry kitten, who likes to claw and fuss a lot. So, I decided to try to sing to him to calm him. I admit, I don't have the best singing voice in the world...
I tried singing some happy and peppy songs and he didn't like that. So, I tried some theme songs from tv shows and he still fussed. Finally, I sighed and began singing, "Rock You Like A Hurricane" by Scorpions.
He responded! He calmed down and began purring!
I guess I named him right! He's definitely a rock and roll kitty. And that suits me just fine, as I love all things rock. I tried other songs again and nothing. But he really does like that one song, makes him purr much. Maybe I'll try Ozzie Osbourne's "Crazy Train" next or maybe Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water".
