Well I got a little kitten yesterday. The lady said she was eating hard food with warm water in it and that she used the litter pan. Well when I got her she was shaking and didn't like me holding her...I thought it was because she was scared. so I took her home and I have tried everything but she will not eat? I tried exactly what the lady told me. I tried can food..I even tried a piece of chicken(which I do not like to do) All she wants to do though is run and hide under my bed. She wont let you hold her or anything. I am really starting to worry because she hasn't ate nor used the bathroom since I got her. The lady said she was 6-7 weeks old I'm worried that she is still too young. Any help please??

Your kitten is still a bit young to be away from her mommy, but now that she's gone you'll have to be patient and understand the poor little thing is horrified right now. Don't mix water with dry food, that can cause bacteria to grow quickly that is not good for the kitties. Some really stinky wet food or tuna should do the trick, i'd try putting it close to the bed and leaving her be so she can eat. Some cats and kittens don't eat or use the litterbox for a couple of days because they're so scared. Also, i'd take her to a vet to get a real age estimate on her, she may be younger than the woman told you. She also may need to be dewormed or receive some other medical treatment, if she's dehydrated or something like that.

Thank you...I tried canned kitten food I left it there for her and when I came back she was still just laying right beside it. She is starting to lay on the bed with me but only if I have her wrapped up in a blanket. I'm trying to get her to the vet..I have tried a dropper to try to at least get her to drip the vet told me to try that but she just turns her head.

I see you are on way. Good! You even phoned a vet.

As Clynn said, it is common they dont eat or do anything the first two days because they are scared. The problem is, being so small, she doesnt afford two days without anything, like other kitties perhaps do.

Wrapping her up in a towel, and carrying around, talking sweetly to her, perhaps even one hour,

is a trick used by some forumists.  It works fine with adopted ferales. It should work here too.

This friendly, sweetly talking, is by itself a powerfool tool for you.  Her mom would do it. And later on, friendly, courting toms, so it is a language cats do understand.

Forcefeeding with water of watered food with a dropper can also be used if necessary yes. You know, from the side, in the corner of the mouth, slowly.  NOT right down into the neck...  Nor everything at one time.

You may also need to simulate her tummy and behind some, to encourage her going to the bathroom. Although she is supposed to manage it herself, it will prob help her.

Does she have a nice hidey place other then down under your bed?  A cat igloo, an sideturned cardboard box. Our US formists tells at Walmart there is some sort of a very nice tent for cats.

You may perhaps find some ideas from the site www.kitten-rescue.com.

Please do also look through other treads here in this forum.

Good luck!

So sorry I haven't been able to reply to you sooner! I went and bought this stuff called meow mix market select and she loved it! SHe started eating that very day that i posted this :) She actually started hiding in my dresser so i put a blanket in there and that is normally where she stays? I try loving on her all the time but I have another prob now...she is very aggressive I have tried being so nice to her but she has clawed me and bite me when I pick her up...I love her to death but I'm unsure what to do about that...I even thought maybe if she had a friend it would help well she loves the other kitten that I have but she still dislikes any human attention.. Also I do not think that she is a she...I'm not very good at telling most of the time I can but she does look more like a male and now that i got to checking so does the new kitten..not exactly what I wanted because they both are kind of mean. I mean the new kitten is all lovey dovey but then it will just attack you...I love my kittenss to death but I can't have a mean cat around and I don't want to give them away :(

It's simple - don't pick her up.  Not all cats like it.  She needs time and space to come around to people being nice.  She is very young, has just had the traumatic experience of a new home, and could take a few weeks to really settle in.  Let her be, let her set the pace, and don't worry about what sex she / he is - the vet will do the right op in a couple of months.

Well I understand completely what you are saying and thank you. I do that I leave her  be until she comes out or seems like she wants attention then I try to slowly pet her but she doesn't want that so I just leave her be. I leave her in my room and just let her run around and play with the other kitten but everytime someone moves she runs off. Ive had plenty of cats when I was younger and none have ever acted this way I understand she is young and scared i would be to but no matter what I do it seems like she doesn't like me. and its not the fact that i'm worried about what sex riley is its the fact that I have two kittens and don't want one to be a boy and one a girl..because it will take me a little while to get them fixed if you know what I mean..

Sounds like you are trying too hard.  Stop trying to make the kitten like you - that will never work.  Remember, if could take some time - weeks - for him or her to come round.  It can take a lot of patience and self-control - kittens are so cute, we all want to cuddle them but they don't all want to be cuddled.

It's also not very forward-thinking to get a kitten you can't get neutered by 6 months.  Take them both to the vets, if you have one of each get the girl neutered as soon as the vet will do it and get the boy done as soon as you can manage after that.  If you have two boys or two girls get the older / larger one done ASAP and the other as soon as you can manage it afterwards.  If you end up with an unneutered girl do NOT let her out - she will get pregnant.

Yes I know. I pretty sure I have one of each and as soon as they are older enough they will be fixed. Also I know exactly what you mean so I stopped trying as much..she seems to come around a little bit more. I woke up to her laying beside me this morning :)
