Hello all from North Carolina!  I adopted a 12 week old kitten today (Ragdoll mix) and he is infected with RINGWORM!  Awesome, just what I wanted!  I felt so sorry for the little guy, my heart could NOT send him back with the animal shelter lady!  She said she gave him a lyme sulfur bath, and I surely believe it because he smells so RANK!  WOW.  I am going to get more lyme sulfure dip stuff tomorrow and will get him to the vet next week as soon as I can.  He only has one small spot, and it doesn't look bad, just a spot of missing hair?

Ugh.  I have a small chihuahua dog who is 6 years old and very healthy :)  I have the kitty confined to one room in my apartment that we do not use, it's an extra room.  I hope it works out.

I hope to learn a lot from you all here on this site :)

I hope it all works out for you!  Ringworm can be nasty but they seem to have a better handle on it now than they used to years ago.  I was lucky with my new little kitten.  She not only came spayed and with all her shots, but also microchipped.  At first I thought she had an extra rib or some sort of skin lesion, but it was the microchip that had floated from between her shoulder blades to her side.  Apparently that can happen.  Anyway, we were really lucky to get this black beauty.

Your little kitten is adorable looking.  I'm sure once the ringworm is properly addressed, your cat and dog will be able to settle in nicely with each other.  So far, we haven't had any major issues with our other cats and my husband's Mini Australian Shepherd.  In fact, Lily took to the dog before she did the other two adult cats.

Good luck and please let us know how you make out with the ringworm and the settling in with your two companions.

I've seen kittens have one spot that never spread and healed up pretty quickly.

You can use almost anything that is made for athlete's foot, since that is a fungus, as is ringworm.  The lime bath is a pretty extreme treatment for one little spot.

Keep a lookout for spots on yourself.  We had an outbreak at the shelter, and virtually every worker and cat volunteer got a spot or two.

Great, I just asked about the lime baths, I will hold off on that.  Thanks again, I will limit his contact with my dog for now and myself unfortunately because I have been sick for 3 weeks with bronchitis and sinusitis.  I will get some athlete's foot creme and spray today!  Thanks again :)

Hi, & welcome to TCS!  What part of NC are you in? There are about 3 or 4 of us on here that are in Wilmington.

I am from Charlotte area, right outside of Charlotte in a small town called Belmont.  Wilmington is still about 3-3.5 hours from me I think?  but not that far :)
