One of neighborhood friends stopped by last night (she is a dog person
) and she saw my kitties looking out the window and said by the way, did you see that house down the street that always has cats infront of it? And I said nooo what house. And she explained, and how there are always kittens and they all hang out on the poarch. She doesn't think that this women is getting them fixed.

I'm thinking I'm getting the trickly down!!! It seems that the big black cat is from that house, but oddly enough there aren't any white cats down there. So do I mail her something about the importance of spay and neautar? Do i confront her and tell her that some of her cats are coming over to MY house and bother my cats/dogs?? I don't have a problem with people have outside fixed kitties but if there not fixed I KNOW that more kittens and cats are going to be wondering up.

My neighborhood seems to have a bunch of good hearted uninformed people. Everyone feeds the cats, but no one seem to fix the cats, and knowing that snowwhite just tested postive for FIV really makes me wonder if her cats have it.

Anyway, what should I do??

IMO, I think your idea of putting some information about spay & neuter in her letterbox is the way to go. You remain anonymous but you're still able to get the message across. Be sure to include stuff talking about the health benefits to the cat. If you can, include addresses and numbers of vets who do discount desexing or ones who give a discount for multipe cats.

Would there be any chance of doing a collection or something to raise money towards desexing these cats?

I'd vote for giving her some good spay/neuter info too. Just print them out from the Save Samoa info & the spayUSA low cost spay-neuter telephone #, and put them in her door. I've done that before with people in the neighborhood - it gives them the information without any confrontation so they can just read it and learn, where in a conversation they might feel like they need to defend their actions.

Val, leaving the info anonymously is a good idea. You can print out a lot of it from Save Samoa. There's also stuff on TNR on Stray Pet (which isn't up yet), but if you e-mail me ([email protected]), I'll send you the links. Lots of it is also available at Alley Cat Allies (www.alleycat.org) in the Resources page.

You might, however, consider not doing it anonymously. Perhaps consider doing something in the neighborhood to raise money to have the cats spayed/neutered, and consider volunteering to trap them.

Have you contacted all the vets/shelters in your area to find out about spay/neuter clinics? Also, NJ has a low-cost spay/neuter program. I think all vets participate. You have to get the certificates, and I don't know how much a spay is, but I think a neuter is $35.

yeah slip some info in her mailbox or post it on her door (ring her doorbell) and pretend that you are going from door to door informing the neighborhood about spaying cats, etc. Then you could chit chat with this person and found out a ton of answers to your questions about your neighbor that you didn't know before
and then let us know what she said (heee!) I'm the nosey kind gotta be in everyone's business somehow!

So far out in left field I got lost
I agree with everyone else. Slip some information about spay/neuter in their mailbox. If may not do any good but at least you will have given them the opportunity to be informed. Good luck!
