Hi All,

As usual, Kat-Kat was out last night

About 3:15am I heard mewing at front door, sounded distressed, thought Kat may be hurt.

It was a white kitten, ran away when I opened door

I put food out that Kat hadn't eaten earlier, just in case it was a neighbors cat

It's back again this morning, now at back of house on patio.

It's got blue eyes like a Siamese but tabby tail, ear and leg colours.(and white front paws)

I've fed it again but it won't let me get closer than about 10~12 ft

Seems to be exploring now, will have to find out how Kat-Kat reacts when he wakes up (he came home around 5:00am)

Not sure what to do next, I'll feed it and see if anyone around here has lost kitten?

Yes, that is what you should do.

Give help as you can and want. Esp if he is freshly astray or freshly  dumped, he is in a very vulnerable position now!

But parallelly do also seek after the owner.  You wont find him if dumped, but you will prob find him if astray.   Or just a neighbour cat who did got food from you, and stayed because of it...

(So that is the danger of giving food to straying cats - IF they do have a home, there is some risk they will not return home as you adopt them - another reason to seeking the owner TOO).

A little shy? MANY cats are shy. Most of my neigbours cats are more or less shy, although both cats and neigbours are friendly.

How old is this cat?  It sound as he is quite young??

Tx for caring!

Good luck!

Well, kitten came up to Kat-Kat head butted him then started hissing and growling.

I had to go out, Kat wouldn't come in, they seem to be 'friends' this evening

Kat came running in when I opened back door but went back out as soon as he saw kitten wasn't with him

Kitten actually let me stroke his head slightly but was obviously terrified (although it could have run away.)

It's really skinny, not just normal 'kitten thin'

I pretty sure it's been abandoned (we live next to a park)

I'll take a walk over there later and see if there are any posters, maybe kid brought pet then lost it?

I haven't figured out how to post pics to thread, I'll read up later

OK, figured that out, easier than expected.

I just fed the kitten again, seems much more relaxed

Here's some pics of Kat-Kat keeping an eye on kiten.

Kitten isn't hissing at him any longer, Kat still seems a bit confused, like, 'How did I end up as babysitter'

BTW,I know lawns need mowing, I've done the front couple of times but Kat likes to 'hunt' in the long grass (still hasn't got close to a squirrel yet though
)

If you can't keep him or know someone willing to take him, I'd call the rescue. He is super cute little pointed kitty.

We have plenty of space as we are end house before park and own the lots either side of us. (it's just a great shame they are less than a quarter the value they were 4 yrs ago)

Kitten is already following Kat-Kat around and nuzzling him

The only problem may be paying for everything as I was laid off over a year ago

Kat-Kat costs nearly $150.00 every time he goes to vet as there is always something extra to do

Wife really liked this one of Flash keeping an eye on kitten.

He's on patio table as the kitten won't leave him alone, but, he won't let kitten out of his sight either.

He brought kitten in through front door then took it back out through back door

Lotsa nice pictures on your resident.  The light one, pointed, is it this new one?  We want more pics on him!  Including the face.

He seems to be some sort of siamese - alike. Maybe even a real, pet quality siamese.  And modern siameses ARE thin, compared to most other breeds.

Is he neutered?  a pure bred sold from a breeder would be sold as neutered, if sold as pet. Although sold with the rights to breed he wouldnt of course..  Next step may be, if you go with him to a vet, they can check if he has a ID-chip.  This they do for free.    (the ID-chip is usually behind on the neck/between the shoulders. So you can try to feel it out for yourself. Although they do move sometimes, so best to check out with a chip-reader.  Again, ALL kittens sold from a decent breeder will have chip or tattoo in the ear, even the sold as pet quality.

150 isnt so bloody, for a check up and also something extra, compared with some big shot clinics.  But with a little luck you can perhaps find a still cheaper vet?

Nice he and Kat Kat seems to slowly become pals.  I read between the lines, if you cant find the owner, you are prepared to adopt him yourself?   Swell.   :)

Good luck!

Btw, High grass is nice to hunt in, but is also excellent to collect tics from.  How are you dealing with THIS problem?

Yep, the little light one is new.

Kat-Kat stayed out all night looking after her (I think it's a queen)

 He's a really good 'mother'

Kitten is looking a lot better today, Kat has been washing her, she's washing herself as well

This morning he came in to eat, but, came forward a few feet, went back to check, came forward a bit more until she was in as well.

They played with me for a while then Kat kept trying to get kitten to play with wrapping paper.

Eventually he crashed out, actually looked exhausted, kitten kept plying for a while then laid down in Kat-Kat's other bed for several hours 'unconscious'

I'm pretty sure it is a Siamese, I've never seen a real young one before though

Welcome!!! Kat-Kat is a gorgeous kitty !! And oh so tolerant of the new little addition. That is a siamese and a very pretty one at that. WOW - I wonder where that kitty came from - abandoned :dk: and lost. I guess when you get this kitty to the vet you will see if it has a microchip. Looks like Kat-Kat and this new little girl are the best of friends already. How cute they are together! Good luck with getting her to the vet :cross: :vibes:

Thanks for the offer of cheaper vet, I like the one I go to even if he is a bit expensive. (He's on 436 in Altamonte)

He's operated on Kat to fix his front paw, couple of others wanted to put him to sleep because he was messed up.

I think the kitten may have been dumped at park because there are a lot of kids there on weekends.

Pretty sure she was a pet, was crying last night (Kat went out on his own, was in and out until kitten stayed in)

She jumped onto bed and slept on my feet

She has no problem using litter box, Kat won't use it except in emergencies, he'll wake me up to let him out.

Kitten doesn't seem to have fleas and is really happy and playful now she's being fed

She's eating a lot, cleaning out food bowls, she didn't even get swatted when she stuck her nose in his food.

Really funny this evening, Kat went out through front door, kitten decided to follow him.

She ran up palm tree and leap off, went to pounce on Kat, he saw her coming, went about 3ft straight up in the air then landed over her, jumped off and they were tearing around the font lawn

Kat's going to vet tomorrow for annual shot, I'll ask about kitten when I'm there

OK, Kitten has been to vet's.

She's about 4 months old, 'seal point' polydactyl 'Hemmingway' (has extra claws/toes on each foot)

Has a bite on rear right foot, had antibiotic injection and liquid antibiotic for a week.

Also got some worming pills for Flash (aka Kat-Kat)

Total, $115.00

Hemingway :clap: Love it! And I assume no microchip then. I would also deworm Hemingway along with Kat. I would assume that she has worms. You could also take a stool sample to the vet. Sounds like this kitten was definitely someones pet. I wonder if she is just lost. Are you asking around the neighborhood to see if someone lost a kitten. :dk: If not, then I think you have a new family member!!! :heart3:  :vibes:

Hi, I think 'Hemingway' is a condition rather than name?

Receptionist at vets came up with a great name though 'Lightning'  (as we already have 'Flash)

Vet checked for worms, she's OK (I don't think she had eaten anything for at least few days)

That may be how she got bitten on foot, trying to hunt something?

She is noticeable bigger than last week and looks much much better, weight was just over 4lbs this afternoon (amazing change in only 4 days)

:lol3: Yes, Ernest Hemingway was one of the greatest lover of Polydactyl cat's :clap: But I still vote for that name :lol2:. Lightening is cute too but you don't even call Flash, Flash :lol3: So maybe Lightenings nick name could be Kit-Kit to go with Kat-Kat

:vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for her foot... :vibes:

Ah, that makes sense.

I like the 'official name' and nickname idea, Kit-Kat-Kit-Kat could be interesting

Here's some more pics of Kit-Kit

Totally crashed out after playing with Kat-Kat for about an hour

Close up of paws - back

Front, she has a tiny claw between 'thumb' and pad so 6 claws on each front paw
