I just heard a red fox yelping somewhere behind my back yard.  I wish I could see him/her someday! I love red foxes--and our hair is exactly the same color.

I also saw 3 deer grazing in a fallow corn field on the way home from work. I've only seen them there once before--mating! LOL

I get  foxes in the trees at the back of my house. They come into the garden as well in the early hours so l leave food out for them now. I leave my shed door wedged open and leave a bowl of kibbles for them, but the bowl must have been empty last week because when l went to fill it the kibble box was shredded to pieces on the floor and the kibbles were all gone.

Thanks to our neighbors feeding all the animals around here (except for cats), we have everything: there are often at least five deer in our backyard, squirrels, chipmunks, possums, foxes, bunnies, groundhogs, raccoons, and the occassional field mouse. We saw a gorgeous red fox a few years ago.

Haven't seen our groundhogs lately; I don't know if the heat and lack of rain have kept them in their dens or if they've left our property. We had three and called them the Blondie Boys and the Brunette Bombshell......but we don't know what gender any of them are. The Brunette Bombshell used to come up on the deck, eat the dry cat kibble and then stretch out on the deck to sun herself (or himself). S/he used to sit on the swing, too. I have pictures of her/him somewhere.

We have all of this without anyone feeding anything. :lol3: Last summer we LOVED our baby groundhog! He did the same thing - ate the cat food and actually used to sun himself on top of the picnic table! I wondered how he got up there until I saw him one afternoon. He'd stand up on his back legs and pull himself up onto the bench, then the same thing to get up on the table. He and the feral cats would hang out together. :lol3:

This year since spring we've seen no ground hogs around here either. :dk: Must be something about the heat and lack of rain, because they definitely didn't leave this property - we've only seen one or two in the past month in the RV park/neighbor's (huge) lawns. Normally we see heaps of them.

Sadly, we also have coyotes. I haven't seen them... but I suspect they're the reason the ferals disappear. :bawling:

I don't get much wild life in my actual yard, put if I drive down the road a little to where there are farm fields and wooded areas I can usually see lots of deer and bunnies, the occasional fox, and to my excitement I once saw a bobcat! He was laying at the tree line just sunning himself!
