first attempt at raw cat food

Went down to WINCO and bought a few whole chickens, butchered the chicken at home and placed an entire chicken breast in a food processor.The consistency looked pretty good, some of  the bones would not break down.No doubt a meat grinder would be a better choice however I can not afford one yet.My Siamese cat has absolutely no interest in eating this stuff so here we go again! I will keep on offering him the raw until he takes it, I will give this about 18 hours then resort back to his cooked carnivore diet.I added chicken organs to the raw chicken and a few sardines in water.My concern about Tyson chicken is that I think sodium is added to the chicken? if so I will seek out chicken that is not brined.

What was he eating before? Was it the cooked chicken and sardine mixture? Poor fella, you can't just switch him immediately like that. You have to sort of ease into it. Read some of the transition threads. . .it can take awhile. You can cook his chicken a tiny bit less this time (leave it a bit raw), then when he's used to that, cook it a bit less, and so on. Cats are programmed not to trust new things so you have to do it in a way that he won't think anything is too new.

Most chicken is brined, yes. Some doesn't have too much salt, some does. You have to watch the sodium levels on the package. Are you going with the 80% meat, 10% bone, 5% liver, 5% other secreting organ formula?

 Last month He was on dry Iams at the adoption center, and has been on cooked chicken meat with sardines which he loves.I need to be more patient and transition as you suggest.He is howling for food right now so I will give him his special cooked food that daddy made for him the raw food I made today was an entire chicken breast(bones,skin ECT) and chopped gizzards, hearts,livers with one sardine added.The tyson chicken seems to have to much sodium so I will buy unbrined natural chicken next time.
