It has been now two weeks since we brought home the super tiny little girl in our car motor. She was at that time guessed to be about 8 weeks old despite only weighing 6 ounces. Now more than 2 weeks down the road she has gained nearly 2 ounces....however...the gain is not body mass but instead abdominal fluid. She is still an active, playful kitten with a voracious appetite...but because of the amount of fluid she is taking a low dose of lasix daily as it was beginning to cause her to labor in breath. Although we are sending off for an FIP screen it is more for protocol and not because that is strongly suspected. We were leaning more towards congenital heart defect although at initial exam nothing obvious was picked up. Her little chest is extremely difficult to listen too because of all the constant purring :) Her chemistries seem to all be normal at this point so kidney and liver issues are likely a rule out. Please send good thoughts for her. I really wanted her to be OK....she's amazingly sweet!

One of my friends took a kitten(under 8 weeks) in who was sickly for over a year and in her first months needed to be drained 2 times I know of for sure.  They suspected Fip and ran so many tests nothing really came up.  She was spayed around 4 months I think(def by 6) and is doing fine now.  There is always hope:)

glad to hear your wee little one is hanging in there, and sendng vibes that she will be just fine.  Maybe she will be similar to Catsallaround's friends kitty and she's outgrow whatever it is

Dipity is that her in your default pic? She is adorable! I recently rescued a pretty young kitten. She is doing great and playing with my other cats. Kittens are so much fun!
