I put a leather couch and rocker-recliner on lay-a-way in March or April.  I'm finally getting the couch!  I went on Saturday to pay the balance owing on it and it will be delivered Tuesday!  I'm so excited!!

There really wasn't anything wrong with my current love seat, other than it's dreary black, "dated", fabric and a magnet for cat hair.  I can't keep up with the consent need to vacuum it because of back problems.

My new couch is leather and faux leather. Real leather on all the important parts that touch you when you sit down. Faux leather around the back and the sides in order to keep the price down.

Now I'll start working on paying off the rocker-recliner. I'm hoping to do that by the end of August.

After that I need to get an actual bed for my box spring and mattress, and a new computer, then I'm done for furniture.  If all goes as planned (which they don't normally), I'll be able to get the bed and computer before Christmas.

Then I'll start saving for a car. My problem is that I can't walk far because of shortness of breath and back pain so I'm using Handi Transit.  With a car I could get a handi parking pass that would allow me to park close to places, allowing me more freedom and convenience to go places.  That will be by summer next year. Just a cheap used one. I don't want the monthly debt of a new one.

Anyway, this was about my couch!  I'll post pictures when it arrives and I have it all set up nicely.

What color is it? Leather is great if you have pets, since the hair doesn't stick to it. We've got the odd scratch or two on our sofas from Jamie running across them or jumping down from his tree, but he's never attempted to sharpen his claws on them. I've put some throws across the backs to protect them, because that's where he likes to run. He generally only sleeps on one of the sofas if his blanket is on the seat.

What's really weird (he just this minute did it): Jamie is incapable of getting between the layers of his blanket on the sofa when I'm in the room - I have to lift the upper layers, let him get settled, then cover him up. When I'm not there, he manages perfectly well. :lol3::lol3::lol3:

I just bought a really comfy arm chair in reconstituted (read: cheap) leather and it's fabulous for pussy cats for all the reasons you mentioned.

It's such a treat to have something new and comfortable that doesn't double as a scatching post or collect hair.

Enjoy!

It's chestnut brown. Here is a picture of it.  I sat on every sofa in the store and kept coming back to this one because you absolutely melt into it.

Here is the rocker-recliner. Both are done in the exact same chestnut brown leather

Love 'em! The sofa is identical to the Ashlery Funriture Big Canyon Bomber sofa I got rid of in May, except that mine was very good-quality faux suede. You'll adore this sofa, and will never want to get up! Guests loved sleeping on it; when I was sick, and home from work, I'd lay on it, instead of going to bed--it was that comfortable (plus, I could lay down and wathc the telly).  I wish I could have leather, due to the fur problem, but my cats DESTROY leather and vinyl upholstery!  I just bought a new sofa in May, and had to get faux suede because of that.

:clap::clap: Those are really, really nice!!!!!!!! We always get leather too. Much easier to keep clean and the cats are not interested in scratching leather! Great choice!!! :D

I bought this set at Dufresne Furniture which is also "Ashley", same company.  The sofa is "Marcella" and the chair is "Nadine".

And I just realized I posted the wrong picture of the sofa. The picture I posted above is "Murdock", not Marcella.  Here is the actual one I bought. I had considered the "Murdock", but when I inquired about the pillow seats, I decided the Marcella was the better choice for me because I didn't want cushions that ended up deflated and the filling all shifted around.

The sales guy had so much patience for me! The first time I went, I had seen a sofa and recliner online but they didn't have it in the store for me to try. I had gone after work and I was tired and hungry and having pain from packing and moving, that I just ordered  them sight unseen.  Over the next couple of weeks I kept thnking about my choice and decided that this is a huge purchase and it is going to sit in my living room for the next 20 years, so it better be something that Wows me.  That set didn't do that.  So when I went down to make my first payment, I told him I had changed my mind about the set and wanted to find something else.

I sat on every single sofa and rocker-recliner in the store, some more than once just to compare. Of course I ended up with the 2 most expensive items they carry!!! But getting some of in in faux leather reduced the price by nearly 1/2 of what it would have been for full leather.

I am very excited!  I really, really want that rocker-recliner though!  That is the chair I'm going to live in for watching TV!  The cats can have the sofa!  lol

I will have to invest in some coloured throws for the cats though.  I'll just use bath sheets for the time being until I decide on an accent rug, and then I'll get throws that tie into the colour scheme.

Ooo they are nice, really stylish and comfy without being too puffy-looking.

Don't get lax and think that cats will never be interested in scratching your new leather sofa and chair, though, our kitties definitely wanted to scratch ours. Fortunately, we were able to redirect them early on and the leather was pretty forgiving. We were warned about vinyl vs. leather at the furniture store, good leather will often self-heal but vinyl (or bonded leather or bicast leather) will rip and tear because they are plastic and not leather at all.

We just got rid of our leather sofas, they were 15 years old and needed new stuffing in the cushions, not much comf in them anymore, but they went through a kid jumping on them and parking herself on the back cushions... I thought about getting them re-stuffed but we really wanted a warmer fabric covering so we got new ones; it's so cold here all the time we kept a stack of throws that we used on the leather sofas before sitting down!

Hope you and the kitties really enjoy your new sofa!
