We are (fingers crossed!) bringing home our new kitten next Saturday! I'm not sure how old she will be, depends on which one we choose, but they're all between 12-20 weeks old. They are currently on Iams kitten dry food and I want to put her on a canned food also appropriate for my overweight-but-losing 15lb 8 year old. I have some research to do in deciding which canned food, but how long would you keep her on the Iams until starting the transition? It's been forever since we had a kitten, but I'm assuming the first few days (weeks??) she will need some time to settle in and get accostomed to us and our house before I start changing her food. How long would you keep her on the dry? And when moving to the wet, would you stick to just one flavor for a while before introducing other favors, or start rotating right away?

What I did was, over the period of two weeks, slowly reduce the amount of dry food you leave out and start with canned. I feed my kittens Royal Canin Babycat canned or Wellness Kitten canned. They're the best IMO!

I'm sure someone will reply with more knowledge than me though,
