Nobody is making me mad here. I know I need to start fostering and become a cat expert before I ask for 501(c)3 nonprofit status. It is very frustrating when I can't get a job, which I need before I can buy or rent a house that is useful for fostering cats.

Emily your logo is beautiful! I have a good eye for that kind of stuff as my husband designs them. What you are doing is awesome. It takes allot of love and courage to do something like this.

If you haven't paid them yet, you just tell them you decided to go in a different direction (in a nice way!). Oh my...I didn't realize I could put an "ad" in my signature. I didn't want to get in trouble, so that is why I haven't. I guess as long as it's not "in your face" it would be acceptable.

It will look even better when the period is deleteed (why did I put that there?) and the font type is changed (I did not want Times New Roman).

The only reason the cats and text are purple is I had no idea at the time there are colors for protection and humane treatment of animals (that explains why ASPCA uses orange) and spay/neuter awareness, which is light blue. Purple is animal abuse awarness. Now I know it shouldn't have purple at all because it really needs light blue and bright orange.

What takes a lot of courage is deciding to do whatever it takes to start a 501(c)(3) organization called Hearts For Cats Humane Society. I was reading Cat Fancy in 1995 (gift subscription from my sister), which has a Helping Animals department. Every month, I read about what rescue groups are doing for adoptable cats. It was like doing a jigsaw puzzle: Do one thing this group did, another thing that group did, etc., then add my own ideas to complete the picture. That was how it all started. And I only got Cat Fancy because I had Emily, so I consider her the reason I am doing this. Her epitaph is, "She lived to give other cats the freedom of life."

UPDATE: The Logo Design Team was "unable to clarify" the slogan when they increased the font size for readability. That is OK. The second attempt was enough to get the font type and cat color right. This is it:

I showed the updated logo to my hubby and he says it looks great! I like how the 2 cats have their paw on the heart.

The cats/paw/heart design is based on the common belief that "cats touch our hearts in life and live in them after they die." That is so true.

Looks good. I do hope you didn't have to pay the original $60 for this. It would take all of 15 minutes in Photoshop to change what they did. Just sayin'.

Usually logos cost more than that. I agree that it could have been done with Photoshop. However, some people just don't want to mess with it; or do not have time.

But they also will make a letterhead and give it to me in several formats. All I know is most computer images are in jpg format and Photoshop, which I don't have on my computer, would cost a lot more than $60. Compare that to the $352 I spent on the original logo, and $60 is not bad. Of course, if I was able to do it on my computer, I would not pay ridiculous amounts of money for this.

Question: At what point do I officially own the copyright?

I am guessing the most common reason is they don't know how to do it at home and another is they don't know Photoshop can edit the logos. In my case, it was not having Photoshop.

The reason I am only charged $60 is I ordered a "repair" instead of starting from scratch. If I wanted something totally different instead of font, text, and color changes for the same design, I definitely would have paid over $100.

I got five letterhead ideas. Some of them are cute, but do not look professional. I chose the one that looks most like a business letterhead and only requested the cute background (cat in a heart and scattered pawprints) be removed, By the end of the week it will be done!
