Update: Super tiny kitten

I posted last week about the tiny 7 ounce kitten who rode under my car hood. I just wanted to post a follow up. She has now been with us a week and a half and has gained just under an ounce making her AlMOST half of a pound. I really hoped she would have gained more. She plays and eats great...she just doesn't grow...I'm hoping she will take off soon. Developmentally she is still showing to be 8 to 9 weeks of age.

I think she will in time. It took a while but in the beginning my girls were only gaining half an ounce in like a weeks time. After a few weeks they started eating frequent meals and as much as they wanted they started accelerating especially Penelope who was much healthier. I think her body needs to catch up on nutrients before she will really start to grow. It took Penelope 4 weeks to make it to 1lb from 6oz, and Delilah 6 weeks from 7oz.

I can't remember - has she been wormed and deflead? 

Yes she has been de wormed, defleaed, and had a completely normal metabolic panel as well as negative FIV/FeLv.

Ah well....  She might slowly catch up.  Minnie was the size of an 8-10 week kitten at 15 weeks, now she's 3.5 kg.  Minnie is my avatar, a pedigree Oriental black.  A pet quality one I hasten to add, and a fabulous pet she is..
