Well,

Hi everyone.

I'm a 21 year old genetics student from Aberdeen Maryland and I've come to this lovely forum to

read all about cats.

I'm rather embarrassed  to say that some extended family members of mine wound up with their cat

becoming accidentally pregnant and now the care of the silly thing is now my responsibility.

I'm not new to animal husbandry at all, in fact I breed fancy mice for show, and have bred show finches before.

But I've never dealt with a pregnant cat. From what I hear, cats are different that my chosen animals xD

So, in any case I figured since forums tend to be stuffed full of information, I could join up and stuff my brain.

(and maybe make a few friends along the way.)

I took the mother-to-be to the vet and they said she's healthy and developing fine.

So that's good at least. I know fishyface(that's the poor cat's name)
is a calico, not sure which kind though. She has both large patches of color and  spatterings.

I know the lady who we got her from, and this cat's siblings include tuxedo, seal pointed, flame pointed,

black (do you call them selfs here?). They even had a lovely little pointed cat who had tortie-like white splotches over her points.

I feel so silly.  If we were talking about mice I'd be able to say the colors effortlessly, but with cats *throws up hands*

I'm not new to having cats as pets either, but this whole pregnancy thing is new.

Welcome to TCS
Post some pictures in the pics and video forum, please.  There are a lot of cali-nuts on here.  Check out the thread about calicos with all the pictures.

Welcome to TCS!

Good luck with Fishyface.  There is a lot of good information on the Pregnant Cats and Kittens Forum.  Lots of experienced people too.  If you have any questions with the site or need help please send me a message.

XD Well then. I'll have to take a few pictures and figure out how to post them.

I've been reading some of the forum and it's a insane amount of information to take in all at one. And thank you for the luck.

Oh my, her name,lol.

That's a funny but awful story.

When they first got her, she was 9 weeks old.

My sister came home from fishing and decided to hang her fishing rod up in the ceiling rafters in the basement.

She normally kept it leaned up on the wall.

But this kitten had made a habit of knocking over lamps and getting stuck in places so she put it up somewhere she couldn't get it.

She didn't even get to the top of the stairs before she heard hissing and spitting.

Rushed back down and there she was angry and glaring, with a hook through her top lip.

She just sat there, growling and twitching her tail.

So we grabbed her up in a towel and rushed her off to the vet, who exclaimed she must think she is a fish and not a cat.

He called her fishyface the whole time and it just stuck.

The cat was fine, and it hardly bled at all. It didn't even scrap her gum on the way through

Can never forget it happened though and since then the fishing rods go into the garage and not the house.

I took pictures, but now I'm waiting for my fiance to come over and show me how to upload them since I can't figure this thing out.

Is it normal for a cat to bleed for a few hours before having kittens?

My mice just pop them out nonchalantly within 20 minutes.

Fishy has been  spotting all day, and she looks uncomfortable, but no contractions that I can see.

No tensing or what not.

I've been looking through the forums, and I haven't found anything yet.
