Last April I found a momma & her 3 kitties by the dumpster where I live and I started to feed them of course
Over the next few weeks 1 was gone and one was attacked by something and it left her with only 3 good legs, no one in my village or the town would do anything to help me help them so I did the best I could and fed them all through this past winter and then in early spring the lame one which I named Hope disappeared and I was heartbroken to say the least, a few weeks ago the healthy one Faith disappeared, while on vacation my friend told me that Faith had come back and then Hope came back a few days later followed by a momma cat and 3 new kittens
so I now have 3 generations of pure black beautiful cats on my hands. I have alot of reading on this forum to do, I'm very worried where all this will be going since I dont think any of them will be TNR  as a senior I cant picture me trying to trap them, I do believe that in time Faith will let me hold her and maybe bring her in, but all the others are very feral to say the least.  So here I am introducing myself, Hi my name is Christine and I'm a Cat-A-Holic..

I'm wondering why did they leave me for almost 2 months and where the heck do they go??  I have alot of questions but I will read the forum before I bombard you with questions.  Thanks for reading my post.

Welcome Christine and tx a lot for caring!

Im sure others will soon fill in. You can also continue to telling us and asking questions.

Where they disappeared, apparently NOT dead?  My guess is either they do have also someone else trying to help them. Or someone who tried to adopt them - but not succeed.  They fled or were released.

You mention trapping and TNR. Yes, I think it must be the way you go. If you cant do it alone, try to find some rescue group nearby you.  I see you gave your living place; Im sure somebody will find a couple groups and or a cheap veterinary not far from where you live.

To "just" give them hungry food is nice, but the big risk is they become more. So the solution is TNR yes (and perhaps also some adoption / fostering).  Afterwards, you can give them as much food you do please,  :)

Anyway, it is easier to go in the right direction, if you know where the right directions is.

Good luck!   *vibes*

Welcome, Christine!! :hugs: Agree with Stefan! TNR is really the only way to stop the breeding. You will have many more kittens to attend too if these cats are not neutered. A huge undertaking and responsibility. IF you absolutely do not want to do this, then you really should stop feeding. I am sorry to say and this might sound harsh - but IF you keep supplying them with food/water, they will stay around and keep breeding and your problem will only grow. :sigh: I would see about getting assistance from a rescue/tnr org./ foster network, etc. They all need to be trapped. :cross: Start making pleas/calls and let's hope someone will come and help you with these beautiful cats/kittens. :cross: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: and bless you for caring :hugs:

Thank you for your replies, this am I called  the village clerk's office and finally got someone that is going to help, so our plan is to TNR. I just hope it wont be to hard to trap the 6 that need to be spayed or neutered.  Someone is supposed to get back to me in the next few days

I'll keep you posted.

Sonds good, BUT! I do have misgivings. It happens City authorities help with homeless, so I dont say never contact them. But them working actively with TNR is not so common. Very uncommon even.

Them coming and trapping them, yes, this I do believe.

But them trapping, TNR:ing - just after a telephone talk?

I suspect they meaned, yes, we come and trap them. Problem solved, (you can fetch the ashes in a weeek if you wish).

Unless they DO work with TNR, or cooperate with a group working with TNR... Perhaps the clerk knows privately some  TNR-group??

Please, contact them again, make clear you DID meaned TNR, you you dont want "problem solved" but you want them TNR:ed and otherwise you are happy with them living there.

As you are giving them food and giving them some care, you are in some meaning their legal custodian and protector.  If you say no to pts, they cant do it easily.  They CAN threaten you into allowing them, but they cant pts just like that.

I think you should contact ALSO a real TNR group. And then, perhaps with cooperation of your City clerk office... do what should be done.

Good luck!

Thank you Stefan, I'm going to be very clear on what I want from them, the woman said they do not PTS and that I will have to help them trap since the cats trust me, no one can get any where near them except me so I have that going in my favor or I should say their favor.  I'll wait and see if they even call, I dont count on any of them to tell you the truth.  We shall see what happens.  Thanks again for your great input

AW good luck with all of this. I do hope they get back to you soon. If you are going to follow through with the TNR - make sure you tell them you will be their caretaker. Food/water/shelter. HOpefully you can commit to doing that :dk: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Dont forget to bake your best cake with all extras on, and go there and give them for their friday coffe break, to show your appreciation from concerned citizens.

Such a village clerk office you can seek long but not find, if you arent somewhat lucky.

Three times Hurrey for them from us here!

Well done, FeralFaith!  Many hugs to you!

Good luck!

Hey all
I've got news, I spoke to the woman from the village office today and told her I was having a problem finding someone to trap, and now they are going to start looking for volunteers to help TNR.. The pressure is now off me and I feel much better. So I will continue to care for all these cats as long as I can, the kittens are even starting to warm up to me a little.  In time I'm hoping I will be able to find them homes, thats my goal with most of them, I'd love nothing more than to find them warm cozy homes.  I'll keep you posted as to how things are going.

I'm thrilled to say the least
this morning they were very skiddish and then I saw the
darn tom cat that comes around the building so I chased him off but the cats ran off also, so now I'll go back out in a few hours and put out more canned food since he will have eaten it all.

Thank you

I forgot to mention yesterday that the village will also be advertising on our local tv station  aint that a hoot

I heard from the village today and someone is coming on Wednesday  with 2 traps and will begin the process. I did warn the guy about the family of skunks, wow they are nasty, when I went out to feed the cats earlier the momma & 2 skunk-lets were snapping & yapping at each other fighting over the kitties food bowl, 2 of the ferals were close by and the poor things didnt know what to do, they gave me this look like  HELP US
I just pray that they can catch the cats and not all the skunks & other wildlife in the woods.  Keep your fingers crossed all goes well. I'll keep you updated.
