Please don't laugh, but I just found a tooth of my 6 month old kitten. I didn't realize they were like us. Ugh I feel some dumb.

So with that said, is there anything I should be doing? The vet always checks her teeth.....always wondered why. But should I do anything? I notice she is chewing on things-- some things she shouldn't and even found a little blood on the items. And is it normal for them to swallow them.....wouldnt it hurt their insides?

Kittens do lose their baby teeth, starting around 5 months, so yours is absolutely normal. And yes, they do like to chew on hard things around that time. There is nothing you need to do but maybe give her a chewy treat form time to time. Some will play with rubber rings like puppies do.

Actually, we never found a baby tooth. They normally swallow them, and no, it shouldn't hurt them. Cats in the wild are out there crunching on bones of mice and bunnies from 6 weeks old or so. :lol3: A little baby tooth won't do any harm at all.

When our cats were teething, we scattered bendy straws around the house. These make GREAT chew toys. They're a good texture, they don't chew them up and eat them. The DO get chewed up over time, so any with too many puncture marks in them, throw them away. But they make great teething toys!!!!!

Cookie is a year old now, but when she was that age...I found about three teeth in different places. One was in our bathroom sink! We didn't know whose it was until an Internet search told us that yes, kitties do lose their baby teeth...and since then, believe me, we close the bathroom door so Cookie can't get in there and sleep in the sink (she also licks our toothbrushes!). I found one beside her food bowl, and another beside her litterbox. :lol3:
