Anyone have a cat who likes to sleep on them?

My friend insists they're being domineering and possessive by doing this but I think its cute. My kitten likes to sleep on my side or on my arm/shoulder. I sleep on my side and she has to cuddle up to me. She will actually try to pull my blankets off or paw me until I let her cuddle up to me. Other times, she just climbs up on my side. Mitty will sit on my hip or my chest. lol The others are starting to do it more often, too! lol

Our Sterling likes to at least sart the night onDottie's right arm. Purring and kneaxing.

And Ella has this funny move where he stands on my chest then reclines with her back end until it slides off, leaving her front legs on your chest but her butt on the bed. She looks like she's sitting at a bar.

Yes....Niko loves to curl up and sleep on mt chest/neck in the middle if the night. I love it :) She only does this with me. When she wants Daddy she will cuddle next to him or at his feet.

Most of mine like to snuggle, a few of them like Panda and Penelope actually sleep on top of me.

Domineering, huh? From the cat's perspective, chances are you are a large, warm, friendly animal that she likes to snuggle with. How your friend gets "domineering" out of snuggling cats is beyond me.

My cats are odd that way--they will snuggle before I go to sleep, but when I turn over and curl up, they jump off the bed. Apparently they figure that snuggle time is over when I'm too drowsy to pet them!

Ritz sees me as a warm (loving I hope) body, especially during the winter when I keep the temperature relatively cool.  Because of her, I no longer need an electric blanket.

She sleeps inbetween my legs; I have a single bed so that's really the only place she can sleep.

During the summer she'll initially get in bed with me and settle by my feet.  Although it is cooler in my bedroom, she has more frequently of late slept in the living room.  I miss her when she doesn't sleep with me, but I understand....

When it's time for me to get up (according to Ritz), she'll very rarely walk on my chest or more common, sit near my chest, just staring.  And staring.

Jamie prefers to sleep on my shoulder, back or hip and gets highly indignant when I roll over and disturb him. He liked to sleep on my head when he was a kitten, then switched to my feet for almost a decade. It's only been the past few years that he's decided to sleep on my torso. He only sleeps on top of my husband('s stomach) when the latter falls asleep on the sofa.

My cats do that! I wake up and am greeted by a chorus of stares!

My other cats never used until the new, big cat did. Now they all do. My kitten especially loves to sleep on my shoulder or side.

All of mine except Sheba will sleep on top of me until I start tossing and turning.  Julie is the worst of the bunch, she will get off for a minute then when I settle down  back she comes.

I love that my cat cuddles with me! I've had a few cats that would sleep with me but at the foot of the bed. My kitty now starts off purring heavily on my chest and when I start fading out and stop petting her she moves in between my legs :). Though at times I wake up in a panic realizing I just rolled over her and smooshed her little head lol! But she still decides to sleep there.

My Paige does this a lot, especially in the winter.  She'll sleep right on my stomach.  She doesn't weigh much, so it doesn't bother me and actually it's quite warm and nice.  King Arthur also likes to do this sometimes, too, except right on my chest!!  Considering he weighs 25lbs, it is a big deal and it does hurt a lot!!!  I can't breathe!!  So I'll wake up unable to catch my breath and find his huge green eyes staring at me like "What's your problem?"  I hate to get on to him as I know it's not fair that Paige can do this but he can't and he doesn't understand why.....

Aya is a "crotch cat". She likes ot snuggle down in there if you're on your back. If i roll over she drapes herself over the crook in my knees....

One thing I will say about furry bedsharers; they make it warm. Their body temp is slightly higher than ours so its like a little furry hotwater bottle cuddled up with you.

I enjoy it.

Only Jackson does this. He jumps up on my computer desk to lay in my arms while I type away, and he comes to sleep on the arm of the recliner when I'm sitting in it. He also loves to get under the covers at night and sleep next to me. The other cats are fine with sleeping nearby, within sight but not on me.

Are u kidding me? Your friend knows nothing about cats, obviously. How do kittens sleep, in piles on each other and on their momma. It's their way of staying warm. I've had snugglers and very independent types that will only sleep on you when necessary (it's really cold out). Fred is a snuggler, he will stay as long as he can and will roll onto his back to try and stay cool enough so he can snuggle longer. Once he gets too hot, he goes and cools down then comes back and starts all over again. Claire, she will have nothing to do with us at night unless it's very cold, then she will curl at the foot of the bed. It's all about the cat, as usual. :lol3:

Gidget loves to sleep on me (at the expense of my own comfort).
If I'm in the kitchen washing dishes or cooking she'd curl up on my feet. On the computer it's either my lap or the hand/arm with the mouse. Anywhere else and she's curled up on my chest (even when sitting upright!).

Our other cat Bobby has just started curling up in my boyfriend's lap again after going so long not doing so. His "indipendence" started after he was left with my BF's cousin when he couldn't take him with him when he was in college. She was hardly ever home and his only other company was other cats.
