I have be separated from my beloved cat for four days, and he finally gets to come home today :)

He was taken in on Friday night with all the symptoms from urinary crystals developing. Poor thing was on a catheter for a few days and fortunately recovering well.

I am now taking all the precautions to ensure this does not happen to my kitty instead, from purchasing a drinking fountain (he likes to drink water from the tap as oppose to the bowl; leaving the tap on isn’t always possible) to increase his water intake as well as increasing his wet food diet.

I am hoping to get some advice from the vet when I pick up my kitty, but I also want to know from other pet/ cat owners other methods/ recovery processes that benefited your little friend.  I’ve read some home/natural remedies but am not completely sold on them. If anyone has any advice or experiences please do share

Besides from the soaring cost of a vet bill, I couldn’t imagine being without my cat again. :)

Thank you

i can sympathise with being separated for four days.  Silly was gone from a Friday morning to the next Friday afternoon.  I had the other 4, but I have had her for 12 years.

This may sound gross, but keep up with the odor of his urine.  If it starts smelling stronger, that means it is more concentrated and may mean that he is not getting enough water. I know you will take good care of Shelf (love the unusual name) and even though the vet bills may be large, he is worth every penny.

So  bit of an update,

my cat went in to the vets this morning for a check up and the problem now is that he is not peeing in a continuous stream, he squats over the little box and produces a small amount of urine, then he will find other spots around the house and pass urine there; little puddles everytime.

Has anyone experiences this after returning from the vet; post catheter?

I'm not sure what else to do, :(

thanks
