He had the records and is supposed to be a good vet. The first rabies was a RABVAC 3. given by a shelter. This one he gave was a modified live virus the other was not Its by Merial and strictly for cats. Perhaps to boost his immune system?? I'll ask him when he calls me about the blood tests. Nothing I can do about it now?

Well I should have left him where he was outside where he liked it. He is very sick with other things and the prognosis is not good. Having him inside which is making him more scared will not benefit him. The only good thing is I can monitor his eating? Others said leave him be guess I should have.

just to update. I am glad I have the cat here after all. Blood tests came back with very bad kidney disease. He still eats and use kitty litter box. He is using the Kitty tube I had brought him for at my moms but she would not let me use it outside so I put it in the bathroom with him and have classical music playing softly outside. I decided just to sit with him brought him some cooked chopmeat and just sat with him. He came out of the kitty tube lied down next to me and wanted me to love him and scratch him and just be with him  and he even purred. That made it all worthwhile, his contentment and never having that type of affection in 11 years since he lived outside. If I had left him at my moms she would get upset if I pet him etc so now its just him and I and I can be with him till the end whenever that may be.

:eek:hno: OH hun.... :hugs: :hugs: Don't you see.... this was meant to be for you and (btw WHAT IS HIS NAME!!!!! :lol3:) this little guy. I know this news is upsetting but now you know what has been ailing him. AND yes, he will be loved for as many days as he has left and will be inside safe and sound. There are many, many threads and articles on Kidney disease (CRF) in cats here in the Health Forum. Yes - you are giving him a wonderful life right now in this moment and that is what is SO important. He will not die alone outside somewhere with this disease, he now has you!!! Bless your heart and we are here for you during this difficult and emotional time. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Should I put him down at vets or let him die at home. Cat is very ill but still eats a spec and uses kitty litter but extremely thin, sleeps all the time. May hear a little whoozing setting in. His kidney tests are horendous. Dr gave him a week. He lets me pet him but he still is not a happy guy. Did sit in the bathtub yesterday.... I do have a vet apptment tomorrow. Also burying him at home. Its so hard but he is not going to get better and its so hard to let go!!!

I personally would put him down at vets sooner rather then letting it run it's course as I don't see advantage of going at home.  It might be a drawn out process.  If tests are that bad and there is nothing being done supportive care at home what is the point IMO.

Another thing to consider is what you have avaiulable to you after hours vet wise if he gets worse.

IF it was me, I'd do the hard (for me) thing and let him go before he suffers any further. It's never easy, but when they are not going to recover and struggle just to survive, there is no quality of life. Please consider doing what's kind and loving for this cat. He's had a tough enough time of it without having him just waste away.

Still have questions on how this stray who lived at moms outside for 11 years really did not know me to well but seemed to have gotten very friendly when he became ill. I started to feed him along with my mother (I fed More) and use to sneak around at times and fed him early in AM. But he would run off deck. My other cats whom were very ill were not as friendly as this guy before they died and when ill. I have never experienced anything else like it. It took him less than a week to be so cudley to me and he just fell into my lap as I sat on the floor and he purred. At times I regret putting him down as he was eating a little and using kitty litter box but drinking tons of water. then one time he sat in the bathtub which I know is not a good thing not sure if he was hot had A/C on . I just wonder if I gave him more time as he could eat better with me here and possibly could have gained strength. But he seemed weak but never fought being in a carrier. even when they trapped him in March to treat an abscess then fixed him which I didn't know they were going to do the trapper said he seems so docile. When I got him at first(from my moms to my house) he freaked but calmed right down and when at the vet I thought he had died as he was so calm. Even when I brought him in for his last journey it was hard getting him in the carrier but once there he was very calm though seemingly tired. BUT when I brought him into the vets he backed up into the carrier a bit. He knew where he was I guess but still very calm. Perhaps he was so friendly because he was so sick and weak. I just cannot figure it out. I keep going over things in my mind. He only was given a week inside to enjoy. I feel so bad!!

Oh please don't feel bad. It's so hard on us to do the very kindest thing for our friends. It's better than them having to suffer. You loved and cared for that kitty...please take that into your heart and know that you gave him a gift of your love.

I guess it was the way I had to get him in the carrier. He heard the door of the carrier and ran into his kitty tube and I could not get him out unless I scared him more. so I got a bit of Tuna he ran out of the kitty tube I let him eat some as he loved it then pushed him into the carrier. Thats whats killing me? I tricked him and he trusted me. He was weak as once he was in there he seemed very mellow but still. Thats why I feel he could have gone longer then perhaps it would have been easier as he was not really ready to be put down! But.....

:hugs: :hugs: Don't second guess yourself, I know hard NOT to do. We all do that. He is in a better place, a safe place now and free of pain. I do hope you feel better now and realize that your heart was always in the right place in regards to this kitty. You have a good heart :heart3: :heart2: :vibes::vibes:
