Turtle now has freedom over the whole house, but her favorite room seems to be whatever room I'm in at the time.

I was trying to have some "alone time" in the bathroom this morning when I glanced down and saw her staring at me. She was making those "eyes" at me--closing and opening them slowly.

I couldn't resist the temptation to reach down and stroke her head. She made a  very tiny squeak that caused her nose to crinkle up.

That's when it happened!

Without even thinking about it I said it. The words just flowed right out of my mouth!! "I love you Turtle Love-Dove."

She responded with a string of chatter and wrapped herself around my ankles and very gentling rolling over on her back--showing off that tummy. And yes, I rubbed it. Just briefly, though, because I didn't want to spoil our moment.

I know she hasn't heard those words in along time, but she still recognized them.

Now I don't know cat body language BUT I think she was okay with it. She just pulled it out of me. So here it's grown beyond my feeling of just responsibility into genuine love.

I Love Turtle.

It sounds like you and Turtle have very definitely bonded.

P.S. "Alone time" in the bathroom is rare when you have a cat.

Your posts always make me cry -- but in a good way.     You and Turtle Dove have definitely become soulmates -- and I'm so happy for both of you.     Look forward to more updates!

I fully agree with both statements.  I have been hoping to hear she offered her belly to rub. I am very happy for both of you.

"Alone time" - 1. The few instants between the act of closing the door and the first cat realizing that they are on the other side and start crying.   2. Act of futility, solved by leaving the door at least partly open.  3. Prelude to "cat parade"

That's great news!!!! It doesn't take long for them to paw their way into our hearts!  It sounds like the feeling of love is mutual!

So far as privacy goes. No such thing when you have a cat.

Woohoo!!!
What awesome news!!  Sounds like you've got a good start on a great bond with Turtle.  Time and patience are paying off!!  Can't wait to hear more Turtle stories!

BTW, I've not had alone time in the bathroom since I was a young child. I grew up with 3 dogs inside who thought I needed supervising in the bathroom and then have had cats for the past 14 years.  We have the open door policy in our house unless there are guests.
