I don't think Mango was a TNR as she is our house kitty as are/were her brothers, Jasper and Pumpkin.  We adopted them a little over 9 years ago.  I am sure all the animals that go thru LCHS are spayed/neutered and I love the idea of TNR.  I wouldn't be surprised if they have some kind of program like that....
Her right ear does make me wonder if it is possible a TNR kitty can end up at a shelter. I guess someone who did not know what people do to identify TNR cats (tip the right ear) took her in.

I love the first picture of Sally and second picture of Cotton.

Here is my boy, Domino. I had just stopped in to pick up some toys at Petsmart that weekend and our local shelter had brought him in.  The poor guy had been sitting in a cage for more than five months.  I have no idea why no one adopted him.  He's the sweetest kitty.

Oh come on, there is no reason you can't tell it again. I have no idea what photography story you are talking about and certainly others do not know it either.
I'm just a horrible photographer.  There isn't really a story to it, except I'm really bad.  I love the pictures that have been posted so far, though.  I am on cuteness overload right now.

This is my boy, Drake... Iiii consider him a "rescue" cause I did find him under my porch in June of 2010 when he was about just a month old, I was walking and I heard a weird meow so when I got closer he peeked his head out, then when I got closer he would hide back under the porch again, til finally after about 10 minutes of him peeking at me and me sitting on the ground he worked up courage and came out to me and warmed up to me instantly after that!! I think it was love at first sight for the both of us... Well something had happend with the poor little guy cause his back left leg had the bone sticking out and it was all swollen that when I held him up later, it burst all over the place so I called the vet and got him in and they got him medicines and everything! I didn't have the heart nor did I want to give him up after that.. so he's stuck with me... FOREVER!  I still have no clue how he ended up under my porch... I thought then and still believe someone dropped him off cause the previous 5 years I had lived there, I NEVER saw kittens, and still to this day haven't except for the just over 1 year old "Mittens" that had babies last month... but I am so thankful for finding Drake, or should I say he found me... He is my baby boy

Hannah was adopted from Fort Worth Animal Control (aka "The Pound") in Nov, 2005 when she was 7 mos old.  The first week we had her, she spent deathly ill with an upper respiratory infection at the vet's office.  Her situation was touch & go the first night and the vet didn't think she'd make it, but she's a fighter!  In 2007, she was diagnosed with Feline Herpes and a pseudomonas infection.  Once again, she fought off the pseudomonas infection and has been in wonderful health since then.  She loves to snooze in our enclosed sunroom, is constantly on patrol, and is a total love bug.  She's my snuggler and sleeps with me every night.  She's my groomer, my alarm clock, and my shadow.  I've learned so much about cats from Hannah and can't imagine my home without her constant companionship.

This is my BIG BOY Jake, he may look innocent in this picture but he can get into some trouble. He was rescued from The Animal Rescue League when he was 4 months old, he is now 4 years old and I just love him to death! He can be such a sweetie.

Oh, I can see he might get into a little mayhem once in awhile.  I've seen that look too many times on my black cats

it took some effort to get them here in my house and i feel terrible for moving them yet again to the new apartment but it's better than them being euthanised for taking up space!

they'r emaking themselves right at home...max loves to warm my lap and cuddles and purrs... which i adore... and sally is taking a little longer to adapt but is still warming up to me slowly, still willing to let me kiss her little nose(max avoids kisses) and scratch her ears or rub her big belly... they're both on holistic dry food combined with grain free wellness wet food... and sally is being weaned off a clear addiction to temptations(hence her being the fatter of the two despite being a smaller cat under the pudge)

I feel like my little family is complete
Oh my goodness, why would you feel terrible for moving them OUT of a shelter and into your loving home???  Silly girl!  You SAVED them, and it's obviously they already love you (and YOU them!!
)  If Sally lets you rub her belly already, she is VERY comfortable
.  How wonderful of you to take both of them!

When does the contest end?

I wish everybody with more than one cat could submit more than one photo.
Submissions end midnight, June 26th. I will take your feedback into consideration for future contests - thank you!

Ella, a Katrina survivor.  She had been in cages for 3 years after the hurricane, due to a sore on her nose that would not heal.  No one would adopt her.  We brought her home as a foster to attempt to de-stress her.  The nose didn't heal, but she looks de-stressed, doesn't she?  Actually, while she still has something of a bare spot, she hasn't scratched it lately.  We couldn't stand to put her back in the cage, so we adopted her.

Sheba was brought in to the shelter with her brother after one of their owners died.  She was about 4 years old at the time.  I had just lost my Psy, and my brother knew I needed her as much as she needed me..  He sent me her picture and I told him yes, if nobody else wanted first chance at her.  He adopted her in my name and Christmas 2010 I drove to Dallas and brought her home.  I will never regret choosing my Queen Sheba.

This is my "other cat" midori. My family got her from the Chittenden County H.S. in January '06 as a 4 year old adult 3 weeks after our previous shelter cat Gracie passed. aya may be the bundle of energy who gets notice dthe most, but Midori is an easy-going, sweet ball of fluff. She's our resident lounge cat. She likes tummy rubs. She likes to lick things like fingers and random fruit -eh? she's spent most of her life living as the only cat, and looking for kitty friends. Now she has Aya to pester her. Midori's nickname is "Squeaky" or "Big Squeak" to distinguish her from Aya or "Little One". they actually both weight about nine pounds and change, but midori is all fluff whereas Aya is all muscle.

I can't say enough about adopting adult cats from the shelter.

This is what fluffy cats do when its 90degrees out; they strategically "frog" in front of the fan and the TV of course!

In paradise, under a cat pile
Peanut Butter, found in a Humane society who kills and sends cats to be tested on. With that in mind I did not return him when he became sick. The whole house hold became ill with a cat cold. I treated them all myself. Saved all but one. The weakest one died. Peanut as sick as he was grown large and proud

Last day for submissions! We'll start voting tomorrow.

BTW, we usually have almost nothing but pictures in a picture contest thread, and I kinda like how this particular one is about stories and not just images.

Since I can only count one picture and I'm not the only one who laughs at it, I'll officially submit the second pic of Cotton being sneaky.

For those who weren't here when I got him, Cotton was the first cat to be part of Toronto Cat Rescue's Sponsorship program, since his age and health made it unlikely he'd be adopted. We brought him home as a non-dominant friend for Freya, and he was that. He loved women and would sit proudly and puff up his chest whenever we had female company. He wanted to be wherever you were and would spent winter days sleeping on the furnace grates. He had an uncanny sense of when something was bugging you an his solution to every problem in life was to crawl into your lap or arms and purr. Cotton would sleep all night in your arms like a giant Teddy Bear.

I think I got myself confused on the rules of this contest!

Does it have to be a cat WE adopted, or any shelter cat that has been adopted? If it's a cat WE adopted, please remove my entry!
